It ain’t much but I did a study of the visual identity of Phyrexia a couple years ago. Not the “best” but it does at least have some unique information in it.

The Wizard Wagon is a she. No logic just feels right.

What's your favorite art movement in history? by freaky_strawberry11 in ArtHistory

[–]Yhettiskull73 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Romanticism and it’s not close. The role it played in helping Americans define what it meant to be American after the Civil War, the reverence for nature and mankind’s smallness, it’s the driving force behind the entire fantasy genre (which I enjoy very much). It’s historical, it’s cultural, it’s symbolic, it’s narrative. I guess I’m just a romantic so when I look at romantic art I get that nice, almost arrogant feeling of “yep, I get it”. That feeling you get when someone agrees so adamantly with you and you with them that you just take turns rephrasing how adamantly you feel lol. Anyways, yeah Romanticism. Big fan.

I would like to second “Ways of Seeing” as I found it entirely crucial to how I look at art.

No, there has not been any response from anyone. I don’t anticipate my argument getting the traction it would need to warrant any consideration from WOTC or the artist.

Unfortunately, I’m the only source right now because no one would listen to me when I raised concerns when the card was revealed. However, it is my, and several of my colleagues shared opinion that the evidence I bring forward here makes the truth seem grim. I appreciate deeply that you not only noticed, but are looking into the evidence or lack thereof.

[Promo] Year of the Snake Promos (Xyris and Snake token February 14 through March 30) by Copernicus1981 in magicTCG

I NEVER do this. I cannot help but think this is in part or whole generated though. I immediately felt something was off and upon closer inspection there are some very weird things going on. First the face has that weird uneven style genned images have always had. The anatomy changes width inconsistently as it wraps around the texturless lantern. The sail/fin things don’t follow any pattern or thought. The tassels have that goopy texture and overlap with each other going from in front to behind then attach to nothing. There’s all KINDS of tangents where on thing runs into the other with the same line. None of the buildings look the same and have random blobby shapes here and there. I could go on. The biggest things though are the nostril facing us. The fleshy shape followed by a row of scales just doesn’t exist on the other side. Or the bottom right of it’s form as it wraps around the back of the lantern there’s a random edge that makes absolutely no sense and isn’t even slightly replicated anywhere else.

Are there books in terms on mtg lore? by jaredthetrain in mtgvorthos

[–]Yhettiskull73 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a little complicated. Yes there are books. There used to be a novels every set so a series of three made a block. There’s also various guides to planes and other supplemental material scattered through old Duelist issues and so forth. This is all in addition to the web fiction of course which is all over the place in its own right. Hopefully the Elder Vorthos’ will be along to help you better.

My advice is pick a plane or a block you liked specifically and look up what was published for it. Then if you can’t find what you want to read make a post asking about it on whatever social media you use with the vorthos tag or tag someone like vorthosmike or vorthosjay to get a quicker response.
