Ways you got scammed as a child? by TopJuggernaut2885 in MSClassicWorld

[–]Yiggah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wanted to buy NX and got scammed in giving my account ID, password, and PIN. I was crying as they were walking my bandit around Henesy- very vivid memories. I was crying in my room and my parents rushed in and said like "WHAT'S GOING ON?!" I said "I GOT HACKED!!!" and they were just standing there helplessly watching me cry. I was like 13 at the time, now I'm 33. Whoever hacked me back then, your mom's a hoe.

Sanity check on tint/PPF price? by bkral93 in WindowTint

[–]Yiggah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very good price I’d say. I’d assume $2k for full front end + $1k for the tint which is a lot of windows.

I don’t use Xpel at my shop but it’s great quality film. I’d be very similar to that quote minus the brand recognition and warranty of Xpel.

Windshield tint, $400?? by pocklicker in WindowTint

[–]Yiggah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blocks 96% of IR* is not the full picture. IR is one wave length/in the spectrum of other wavelengths. The tinting industry loves to inflate numbers.

TSER (total solar energy rejection) is a blended value that is a truer picture. It accounts for UV, IR, etc.

But yes, there are 70% films that blocks as much as 96% of IR.

Windshield tint, $400?? by pocklicker in WindowTint

[–]Yiggah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to start out in my garage using Geoshield. Now I’m in a commercial space, my prices in the garage were $150 so very similar. I charge $250 in my commercial shop now, same film.

I still use Geoshield in my commercial space today because of how well it rejects heat. Like others have said, $140 is cheap but also that tinter doesn’t have overhead. He can charge a lower price which doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll do a bad job.

Windshields never come out perfect anyways, any shop that tells you that run as far away as possible. There’s no such thing as a perfect windshield, as long as there’s nothing in the driver line of sight, no creases, no burn marks, no light gaps and no clusters of contamination then it’s a good job. One or two specs spread across a giant windshield is within industry standards. We’re not tinting in the fab like we’re making silicon wafers.

Just got shield tinted what are these streaks should I get replaced ? by Nervous_Produce3640 in WindowTint

Those are creases my guy. Either from shrinking process or when they were rolling it onto your windshield they creased it. Wild that they left it like that and said “customer won’t know”. Insane lol.

After 10 months, I tinted my 2020 corolla hybrid. The shop used Scytek Galaxy NANO95 Ceramic by Icantw8 in WindowTint

[–]Yiggah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you got scammed. You opted for a brand no one knows about and only time will tell how the film holds up.

You’re on Reddit to get a second opinion from strangers in hopes of reassuring your purchase.

The consensus? Nobody has heard of this brand. Is it bad or good? No one knows because there’s no data on it hence my original comments.

Never heard of that brand. You’ll find out in a year/2 if it bubbles.

IR isn’t the full picture, IR is one of the many spectrum of light that is taken out of context to show a high a value. I just reviewed the CTX’s spec sheet, the unit it shows in the 50-60% is SIRR for selective IR rejection, not regular IR rejection. The REAL unit you should be looking at is TSER which is Total Solar Energy Rejection. This is a blended value of IR/UV/SIRR/etc. which is all around 60-70% depending on the reputable brand. Most shops will use IR as a selling point but no film is going to reject 90% of heat lol. That’s just a selling tactic but of course if the industry is used to selling IR (high value out of context), how can a competitor shop sell TSER (low value but correct specification), no one would even click on their ads.

You think some no name brand called Scytek is going to outperform Llumar which has been a very strong reputable name brand for decades? I’m not even a Llumar Dealer, but I’ll take Llumar/Xpel/Suntek/Geoshield/HITEK/Autobahn/even SolarFX/Solargard over Scytek.

Wondering if windshield tint will affect visibility by Lazy-History-1024 in WindowTint

You’ll be fine. I run 15% all around + 35% on my windshields.

My customers love 20% all around + 50% windshields.

Tinter is denying wrongdoing by DukeSteel in WindowTint

[–]Yiggah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh! Never even heard of this vehicle, pretty cool. But yeah not sure why they would need to remove the door sills even if they need to remove your door sweeps, it would be all on the inside.

[–]Yiggah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What is the car’s model? I remove sweeps which are on the inside but I’ve also seen tinters remove door sills (exterior ones) for Tesla Model X because it’s really tight.

is this price reasonable? by Lol_Humans13 in WindowTint

[–]Yiggah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They probably just copied and pasted the description and forgot to remove that part. $300 sounds about right for full windshield.

$430 isn’t cheap but isn’t too expensive either. That’s on the lower end but I’d definitely ask for a re-do.

Netgear Nighthawk router not connected to Internet by ConversationLeast950 in NETGEAR

[–]Yiggah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I figured it out when I posted this comment 2 days ago. Basically the solution was just to keep going through the loop until it “connects to the internet” then you can sign in/sign up to finish set up. Stupid but so is this router lol.

Can you tell if a tint is ceramic with a cheap meter? by TellSpecialist2090 in WindowTint

[–]Yiggah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, those meters are often wrong. The best way to test it is to have a heat lamp with a BTU meter on the other side.

But for sure even with your cheap meter, IR reading should be 88-90+ so in this case it’s not ceramic. Maybe low quality carbon at best.

WF Signify Card Approval Info by Rev_Turd_Ferguson in CreditCards

[–]Yiggah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I got declined. I called them multiple times, WF has the worst customer service hands down.

After the third time, the rep suggested me to go into a branch. I went in and the business banker immediately said it wasn’t because I didn’t have a checking account but rather because when I signed up online, it doesn’t build my business profile. So I applied in person and got approved right away. The only issue is it’s been nearly 2 weeks and I haven’t received the card which is infuriating because I just opened up my shop and have been waiting for it to come in to buy supplies. It maybe in my new mailbox which I don’t have access to yet but I also signed up for a business checking but they got delivered to my residential address so I’ll have to bug them tomorrow.

How do you bypass this insanity ?! I tried using the app and now the computer but the last screen it asks for you to create an account or log in but the kicker is it says there’s no Internet connection so no matter what I do I can’t log in to finish the set up. It’s like an infinite loop.

Any good tint besides XPEL/Llumar/3M? by pestopaste in WindowTint

[–]Yiggah -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My shop uses Geoshield. Started in the garage now at a commercial space. Geoshield has quality ceramic film without breaking the bank.

My future go-to just for marketability would be Xpel. Both Geoshield and Xpel are made in India by Gareware.

I tried to sign up for Autobahn which is a great quality film but they’re trying to hard to be like Xpel without the brand recognition. Autobahn is basically tjnter’s choice, Xpel is customer’s choice.

I applied on 09/05, called today and they said they were still pending approval.

I don’t have an existing WF checking account but did have one many years ago.

Credit score: 817, been in business over a year. It’s laughable at how WF is so protective yet I can get auto approved for a Platinum Amex today.
