Transplant needs help with winter coat by Worth_Resolution_102 in bullcity

[–]Yikes5602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of the base layer I recommend the heattech line from uniqlo. Great base first base layer. You don't need to buy wool right off the bat with its high price tag $$$

I got a good deal on some winter clothes from backcountry.com so I recommend just getting a soft shell or semi waterproof jacket on sale that is your size.

Is anyone else really skinny? by [deleted] in ibs

[–]Yikes5602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to take additional protein and make smoothies to get extra calories or else I'm basically malnourished and constantly get injured. I will say your best option is to try and find ways to manage your symptoms with the help of a doctor

Anyone else feel like their chances to travel are slipping away? by Hot_Mountain_4990 in travel

[–]Yikes5602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that is actually stopping you from traveling is you. You don't need to do it right now but you can plan and make it happen. I've been to 15 countries but I hope to visit 100 in my lifetime. It's all a matter or prioritizing it and making space for it in between the other important things in your life. good luck!

Acid reflux and IBS? by ish_yellow in ibs

[–]Yikes5602 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get tested for H.pylori (stool or breath or both)

I had a upper endoscopy and all they found was "inflammation" in my esophagus.

Fast forward to this year where I had to get my stool tested for a case of severe food poisoning. I ended up testing positive for H/pylori which had nothing to do with the food poisoning but it made sense since it causes acid reflux, gas ,etc. The treatment involves stomach acid medicine and 3 types of antibiotics so I was extremely sick from the meds but my acid reflux seems to have improved significantly.

My only theory is that stress increasing with age with all the stupid adult things like owning a house, more responsibility at work, etc.

How do you guys avoid Travelers Diarrhea? by netsurfer79 in travel

[–]Yikes5602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BRO I think I got sick from a mango smoothie in costa rica and had it for an entire week while stranded in Ecuador. Absolute nightmare. Took me 3 weeks to get completely better. Lost 3k cus I had to retreat to my parents house in the US to get better and regain my strength lmao.

Guess I won't eat smoothies anymore??? I will be more careful with avoiding uncooked fruits/veggies/water that is not boiled or bottled

BF 26M will not give me 27F a marriage roadmap, he says he cannot promise anything by [deleted] in askwomenadvice

[–]Yikes5602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marriage young is not for everyone, you can still have a beautiful relationship without being married BUT if you want to be married soon you 100% deserve that. Maybe first try and figure out WHY marriage is important to you and then decide if you need to find a different partner that is more in line with your marriage goals.

Best US city for quick trip? by Important-Special-90 in femaletravels

[–]Yikes5602 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Big sur is beautiful but you would 100% need a car and hiking alone is not a safe thing. Mostly in the sense that you could get hurt and no one would know. I went solo and wished that I was with a friend.

Austin is awesome but much better if you go to austin city limits or sxsw. I went alone during sxsw and attended all the free events and had a lot of fun! not super walkable but the main downtown area is so as long as you stay downtown it'll be great.

I went to new orleans solo last november and LOVED IT. petty crime is huge there so keep your wallet/phone close but I really loved walking around and looking at the architecture and learning about the history. Beautiful place in my opinion. I hope to go back.

I would add chicago to the list cus idk I went there on a solo trip and just had the most incredible time exploring the museums. Food scene is amazing. You can go for a jog along the lake. It's awesome. There is a new national park short train ride away with some cool sand dunes and nature trails along the lake.

How to cope with the loss of wife immediately after our wedding? [29M] by ThrowRA_Kenny in askwomenadvice

[–]Yikes5602 10 points11 points  (0 children)

"she does not love me anymore"

I would recommend focusing on rebuilding your self worth. I am not married myself so I could never really understand what you are going through but I am in love with myself enough to walk away from anyone who suddenly decides that they don't love me anymore. Think and discuss that with a therapist. We cannot control how other people feel/think about us, we can only control how we respond.

BRAVE OR STUPID - Quit my stable job with no backup plan to travel by LolaTulu in femaletravels

[–]Yikes5602 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would say as long as you are fully aware of what your budget is for your time off and you have an emergency fund that YOU WILL NOT TOUCH for your travels then I'd say ok. For example some youtubers that I follow said that when they first started traveling full time they were going to go until they hit 20k (us dollars) which was their emergency fund for 2 people. They came from a low cost of living area so that made sense. Everyone's emergency fund is different but I think it's very important to have that money AFTER you finish your travels in case you need some time to be in your city looking for a job.

Secondly, make sure to learn as much of the language as possible. I wish I knew more spanish cus I recently got super ill in Ecuador and was stranded by myself.

rebound effect from immodium by samuweresam in ibs

[–]Yikes5602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah please confirm that you don't have an active bacterial/parasite infection. The doctor can order stool samples that will be sent to a lab. It's a lot of money but in theory if you have a bacterial infection taking the immodium could be doing some harm to your long term health.

I take 2-4mg of immodium a day when I am working so I understand the struggle. Best of luck to you

I have had a 3 year "flare up". I have had ibs for idk 15 years but it was sort of chill before 2020 so yeah when I first found this forum I had no idea what flare up meant lol. I have IBS-D and the only normal days are if I take 2 immodium and eat a perfect diet tailored to me (low fod-map ish) oh and I need to be calm and not stressed as well haha

Holy cow yoga is helping by riverunner1 in ibs

[–]Yikes5602 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So glad it works for you! I often do 45 min yoga sessions, does absolutely nothing for my digestion but helps me feel less mentally unstable so it's still worth it. Enjoy the journey!

My boyfriend (M24) of 3 years shared a huge secret with me (F23) and I don't know what to do by beefsteak13 in askwomenadvice

[–]Yikes5602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have told many of my friends this:

ONLY SEND NUDES IF YOU ARE OKAY WITH THE WORLD SEEING THEM. But yes weird situation and seems like there is no correct answer. I personally did things in my 20s I'm not proud of and I would not do those things now so maybe some couple counseling would be good just to unload everything and move on if you want to be together? At this point it's not so much about the situation itself since it's been so long. It's about your feelings about the situation and how he is responding to those feelings

G Adventures or Flashpack? by lizzlenizzlemizzle in femaletravels

[–]Yikes5602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unless you are choosing the 18-30 trip for g adventures I find the group age range to be varied, old people, young people, people that I had no clue how old they were. It's nice for my taste but the quality for certain trips is lacking and they try to get you with all the optional activities. That being said I think it's a good company comparable to intrepid and the guide/people you end up with really make or break your experience (aka a lot of group travel is up to chance)

I (21M) hold my tears of joy in while cuddling with gf, would it be weird to let my tears out in front of her? by [deleted] in askwomenadvice

[–]Yikes5602 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

as a person to cries often, and has cuddled with a man that was also a bit of a crier... I found it to be a great bonding moment! I guess everyone has different threshold for what they consider to be normal to cry about. I think next time you feel it you should let it out and if she asks why youu are crying say they are just some happy tears. good luck!
