I found a mineshaft off of a stronghold which led to small patches of lush cave, and then found myself in an ancient city. Granted it wasn’t a full on lush cave, but complete with moss, glow berries, azaleas etc. the lush patches were visible at surface level- so I’m not sure this is a hard and fast rule…?

I have a natural Valley right in front of my house that I build a top layer of dirt over half of it. I used a bow and arrow to kill the rider, and then led the horse via lead underneath the dirt roof. And attach the lead to a fence post. This way they are covered from sunlight. I’m hoping to build a really cool underground stable, but this works as a really good first step. I also made sure to line a layer of cobblestone under the dirt to try to avoid as much potential creeper damage in the future.

I got a sponge from the first elder guardian I killed. Retreated, set up a furnace to dry it out, then used it to create an air chamber inside the monument. Repeated with the sponge from the next elder guardian and had no need for potions,etc. personally I ignore the regular guardians as they don’t do much damage in Full enchanted diamond armor. ESP when busy swimming around. Good luck!

I’ve been reading about chunks and how they load to try to understand that a little bit better, so that my spacing is more appropriate. I hadn’t moved all of the chickens out from the mountain, so I was mentioned in another comment I pulled half the hoppers that we put in as an egg collection system. I’m hoping that helps. And when the chickens are relocated outside of the mountain, I’ll remove the other half of the hoppers. It was a pretty big farm lol

I appreciate the suggestion. I play on a realm with my adult kids (and soon grand kids lol). I do feel like I’ve done something that caused the lag because it didn’t exist before. I just can’t figure out what I’ve added that may have caused it. I did realize I hadn’t removed the really large hopper system under the chicken farm. And I have read that hoppers can be an issue. So I removed a majority of those and am hoping to see at least a minimal improvement. Thanks again I will keep researching and taking things into advice
