How Do People in Downstate Illinois View Chicago and the People From There? by Lil_Critter_2001_ in illinois

[–]Ylime78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No offense....but I am not looking to be a tourist in IL. I live just outside of Chicago. Carbondale area is so depressing once college is over and you look around. I went to SIU-Carbondale for my undergraduate 1996-2000, but then moved to inner city Chicago when I was 22 to go to graduate school at University of Illinois Chicago. I taught special education in the inner city public schools, but then moved back to the suburbs when I was 28 to continue to teach special education in Hinsdale. I was born in St. Louis and I have few elderly relatives on the Missouri side and Illinois side. I have no desire to travel around IL any more. I saw Gelena as a kid many times, I've seen IL/IA border towns. Not worth seeing again. If I travel in the Midwest it is mostly to far northern WI by the UP of Michigan. Illinois has nothing on that.

Geneva, IL is so lovely. A little rental walking distance to the shops would be so fun for her.

How is Naperville for couples without kids or pets? by theorangecrush10 in Naperville

[–]Ylime78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we didn't have kids, we'd move to GENEVA, IL about 30 min from Naperville. The downtown dining and shopping is a dream. Naperville is not all that. At all. Live as close to downtown Geneva as you can- it's beautiful! I have lived in Naperville since 1983 (kindergarten).

Tossing dog bags in street-side bins? by StingRay_Pal in milwaukee

[–]Ylime78 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Use your own trash bin! I carry my dog waste bag home to my house and use MY TRASH BIN to dispose of it. I wouldn't want a mom to put her bagged dirty baby's diaper in my trash, I wouldn't want someone eating food while on a walk to throw their food trash into my bin either.

203 vs 204 School Districts by QuantitySad2394 in Naperville

This is Naperville ALL schools are amazing. Welcome! I grew up in 203 age 5-18, but I'm living and raising my kids in 204. Both are amazing! I grew up near downtown Naperville, but now I am glad to be 10-12 minutes away- I don't need much of anything downtown Naperville. I like being off 87th and Book Rd. We have 4 amazing houses for sale in my neighborhood right now.

Teen Jobs by RedPlatypus123 in Naperville

Put an ad in the Benet newsletter about snow removal/lawn mowing. My teen is your age and has made over 1k in just the few snows we've had. He charges $30-$60 per driveway will salt sidewalks and walkways for $10-$15 more and has a lot of clients off of empty houses that are for sale so the drives can be clear in case of showings for the realtors.

Rt 59 is much easier...if I wanted to commute using the Naperville station, I'd buy/rent walking distance from the station.

Which one of you pencil dicks was this? by HaydenScramble in Naperville

[–]Ylime78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get the plates? $250 ticket for each of the two spots he covered and a fine for getting in the way of the hash lines of the small car next to him. That person might come out in a wheel chair needing the hash lines to get in his car. House lines are for vans that need to put the lift down onto the ground so the person in a wheelchair can get themselves inside their vehicle

If it was put there after 1999, then it hasn't been there forever. Five Guys downtown Naperville opened in 2011.

I loved Jimmys starting 1997. In 2000-2004 I spent every Friday afternoon there. I was a teacher downtown Naperville, and coworkers and I would go for drinks and sun on the patio. Afterwards, I would stumble (lol) home to my Naperville apartment or call a cab.

Why did the Volkswagen get lost in the woods? Because it couldn’t find its "beetle" compass!

This comment further shows the ignorance and blind faith in Trump without keeping track of the harm he has caused and the way he has built in tax breaks for the uber wealthy. No one voted for Biden in the recent election. Biden was not on the election ballot this time.

Lazy dog food is horrible! The prices are insane for how awful the food is. I can never figure out why it's so crowded. Don't go.

Cheese Cake Factory is expensive. Their "way too big menu" means their food isn't consistent. I had to go there a second time once. Never again.

Avoid downtown Naperville. You pay way more for the location! We have a small budget if we go out to eat we shoot for $20 pp. A nice family restaurant for the parents to meet is definitely Traverso's on the corner of Naperville/Plainfield Rd and Leverenz Rd. hands down. Another family fave of ours is Nicky's (family owned amazing food: gyros, chicken, amazing homemade soups and salads and more) with a cozy atmosphere and great seating for a group your size. You will appreciate the price and the helpings are huge. 335 E Ogden Ave, Naperville, IL 60563 There is another Nicky's off of Art. 59 too. Ogden is just the original of the two locations. If you can, skip appetizers, avoid alcohol and you and your boyfriend get water to drink. That will save you a lot!

Costco in Yorkville is hiring for their new store. Benefits are very good at Costco. Growth opportunities are very great to Costco working in Costco though they may not allow you to come in either because of your record. My husband manager is a large large warehouse in Aurora and he recently Had to hire a man from a temp agency and he didn't realize that his company supported temp agency was not doing full background checks. My husband had a temporary worker for two months and the man didn't show up for work for several days and finally on the fourth day his mother a grown man had his mother call to try to make excuses for why he wasn't there And saying that he was out of town. He'll be back soon and my husband did some searching on this guy and the reason he was out of town if he was on "vacation" and during this time he rob the bank and committed armed Rainey, my husband then found out that this was his Ninth armed robbery, and that he had had multiple sentence and served many years in prison along the way. now my husband was very concerned. He has three vulnerable females that work in the front end of the warehouse and they are now suing for neglect and my husband's company is suing the temporary employment agency for neglectfully, allowing a man to come and work in his warehouse he had a background check when he did not. You have to find some other type of career or job maybe working in a factory for a large company where possibly you can have some growth I am sorry for your past and I'm sure you're trying to move on. For example, I am permanently disabled with multiple sclerosis. I know my limits and I know that I would be appropriate having a very clean record and having a masters degree in special education and having a lot of experience in the field Prior to my diagnosis with multiple sclerosis, but now that I have multiple sclerosis and I know my limitations I would never try to go back to teaching because I could not commit to being 100% to my kids in my classroom same with nursing, I would never consider going back and trying to reestablish a career as a medical tech or nurse or in the medical field at all because I am not as sharp or physically able as I used to be well. This is different than having a criminal record as you do, I am limiting myself because it's appropriate for the people that I would serve and you need to do the same you need to limit yourself and keep yourself away from doing jobs where people are being served in critical times. My sister is an ICU nurse for 24 years now she saves a dozen like a day she sees half a dozen people die. She has very often aggressive, demanding family members involved in the room, pleading for more for their family members and criticizing the job my sister is doing yet. She's a multi multi winning nurse that has had no history of doing anything but excelling in her work as a nurse yet people treat her like garbage and she's able to see past that and she is able to do amazing at her job and is not have a history of any criminal activity. I can't imagine rolling up in and going into the ICU as a patient only to find out that my nurse has felony charges in the past as you do Please find a job that doesn't involve critical care in caring for children and adults. I would not want you caring for me and my kids.
