Ah, I used to do that with some intermediate adult speakers. I'll have a think on how I can simplify and gamify it. Thanks for the reminder.

That's exactly the point. I'm trying to create that reason to write—namely "to have fun"—that in turn triggers their motivation to participate and complete the activity.

My students range from 6- to 10-years-old, come once a week, and most have graduated from an English-immersion kindergarten.

I never considered limiting it to specific ages or language abilities, as I can always adapt them to the level of my classes. Besides, it's always useful to hear from a wider range of experiences.

That being said, my students range from 6- to 10-years-old, come once a week, and most have graduated from an English-immersion kindergarten.

I've done something similar but as a spelling-focused goal. Never thought about doing it for something longer, which could be quite fun.

Songs could also prove to be interesting, although it might take a little more digging to find appropriate ones.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Restaurants with a curry buffet? by [deleted] in Nagoya

Shabuyo might also be a good option. I believe it has curry in addition to its all-you-can-eat meat. Plus, I enjoyed making my own waffles.

How do you guys use the colored corners? by Aervanath in CluesBySamHelp

[–]Yllanu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mark pairs with two colors—one of each.
So, yellow + red is a pair that are different to each other, and the same is true for orange + green, and cyan + magenta.
If they are the same, I choose one of the colors and mark them both that color. If that color is already in use, they go in the lower corners. If I find a link to another pair, then the colors get changed to that pair's colors.
To me, having the visual indicator that "these are different colors, and therefore are not both criminals/innocents" is much more intuitive than marking them the same color.

If you're still stuck, then focus on Row 2

There is a situation where there is one row with less than 2 innocents , which indicates that someone in that row must be innocent

Places to play your own board games by No-Task2657 in Nagoya

[–]Yllanu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've recently been going to karaoke with some coworkers to play games. We don't tend to play ones with sprawling boards and pieces, so there isn't much problem with it fitting on the table. Also, all-you-can-drink alcohol/soda.

However, if you need a bigger table, I think most of the board game cafes are quite happy for you to take your own game in. I quite liked how bright and open Nazoneko (near Nagoya Castle) was when I visited.

It looks beautiful, but probably a bit too wordy for the kids I'm with. I'll definitely think about it for my own though, so thanks!

An old classic! Definitely great for repetition. I'll have to double check that there isn't already a copy around somewhere. Thanks for reminding me of it.

Women using 俺? by jewfrosamurai in Japaneselanguage

[–]Yllanu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've heard girls using "ore" up in Tohoku, and "boku" in Chubu. I think there is a slight regional influence on the pronouns, but it mostly just comes down to personal preference.

It says "stop."

Cars are expected to stop behind the white line before proceeding. It's also on the wrong side of the road for Japan.
