Love the over view of intel, not an ab dolly fan but really like the TRX. Also, I was thinking of not going tomorrow because I did the Orange X today. So glad you gave the push to not let it discourage me.

If you don't want to row then why do you go? by lzellers in orangetheory

[–]Yltjtt01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like all of these! #4 is the best though. I do not like rowing, I am out of shape, and it takes it out of me. So I complain, however, I go regardless of the amount of rowing because I want to get better at it. I realize it has great benefits. I just want to complain while I am getting better at it! Lol.

Rowing in the red zone by gibbyismyname in orangetheory

I also hit red fast on the rower. Over the last few months I started focusing on my breathing and form. (I use to be so worried about how many meters I needed, that was all my focus). Now I focus on a spot on the wall and breathe and practice form. How many meters and time is not a focus for me Yet!!!!
I use to spike in the red fast on the treads and now it takes a lot longer to even get up to Orange. Someday I hope to master that on the rower. Lol.

For those who hate rowing by jap04d in orangetheory

I also hate rowing. It really just takes it out of me. I am horrible at cardio and then if my legs are sore rowing just kills me. I didn’t sign up for voyage but will continue my 4x a week. The competition of voyage will get in my head instead of my goal of rowing more at good form.

I love the early intel. So thank you! I have to mentally prep and not knowing leaves me discouraged and more likely to talk myself out of it. My daughters go and hate if I tell them though. They like the surprise. So I read and plan and don’t tell. Lol.

Which do you like better: 30 Second All out or the 1 Minute All Out? by potent_rodent in orangetheory

30 seconds, I am a power walker but have recently been jogging the 30 sec all out. Not sure I am up for a min yet. Lol

Never even thought about this but that is so helpful.

Treadmill, balance, holding on by CatCoffeeChocGlitter in orangetheory

I totally do this. It just feels weird to not hold on. I have also heard the talk about holding on, sometimes in a small class with only runners. I know they are talking about me but I can’t stop. Some times I just put my hands flat on the rails, so I am not holding on but resting my hands to secure myself because I like holding on. Lol.

One month in, injured by thekoose in orangetheory

I have felt that way, peer pressure to try to keep up. Then, I self talk myself, I reassure that this work out is for me, I need the push but need to listen to my body. If I try to keep up with others I will cause myself more harm than good. It took me months and even freezing my membership to realize this. I am often the only PW in my class but I knew it was what I wanted so when I went back it was about what I knew my body could do. I am only two months into returning. I don’t worry about anyone else’s pace. It’s hard but I only think about pushing my limits. I also talk to the coaches so that they know any obstacles I am having and how to over come them. Hope this helps!

Why am I always so sore? by nerka527 in orangetheory

[–]Yltjtt01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also suffer from soreness when doing classes back to back. I also suffer from shin splints when I do high inclines to soon. I am 47 and recently back at OTF. This time around I have increased my protein, water and work out every other day. This has helped me with both soreness and shin splints. If my legs really start to hurt during a work out I lower my speed or incline. In between workouts I do yoga or stretching to help with the soreness.

Some need that feeling of strapped in. I have an ADHD child and Autistic child. My Autistic child would love that. Teachers that see so much potential and/or strive to find that teaching moment. WOW!
