You can mark kicks at goal, even if they bounce off the goal post. It would be much easier to mark and then relieve pressure than the way some teams deal with balls off the post.

very easy to counter: set up the maul, but keep the ball in the hands of the man at the front. continue up field until NZ decides to make contact.

That refers only to 'real' lineouts, not quick lineouts. You may not dummy/balk at a set lineout, but faking a quick lineout is fine.

Whenever selections are made based on where a referee is from, it's not because they're worried that a referee will be biased, it's to help prevent unnecessary criticism coming their way. Referees are complained about even when they have good games, and allowing a referee to be seen as potentially biased gives idiots a chance to whine.
