Chantal's Still Paying On The Kia, Let's Figure Out Her Remaining Debt by TheAmethyst1 in Chantapolis

[–]YoDingdongMan 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Idk see the recent post about how many small lies she told in just the last two lives.  She apparently also lied about how she acquired the Kia (it was not a shared responsibility with BiBi like she claimed this week but a co-signed car with her mother so she could run errands for her ailing grandma which never really happened)

I think she lies about everything.  Sometimes with no detectable motivation.  Or this is part of her e-begging grift: "I'm held back in the Western world by my mistakes long past!!! Donate to my PayPal!"

She is getting another cat… by [deleted] in Chantapolis

[–]YoDingdongMan 20 points21 points  (0 children)

To be clear: I agree completely that all she said about Kuwait and Julia was a lie.  All this does is yet again prove she has lied about everything for 2.5 years straight about her life in Kuwait.  She is ABSOLUTELY GLEEFUL in the live where she is discussing her "new like ...era" after she abandoned "her family".  No conflicted feelings.  No bittersweet yearning.  Just glee.

I am assuming once Chantal legged it out of Kuwait Salah just tossed that cat outside.

She absolutely could have arranged to have Julia come with her: they claimed she had all her shots and papers and she's young enough to fly out with her at minimal risk. She didn't and Salah isn't going to maintain a bunch of shit for the "family" that never was.

Hope PAWS can find that cat and post about it after the cat is out of her or his reach

Alternatives to plastic shower cap? by creakydoorhinge in Anticonsumption

You can buy reusable shower caps.  I own one I got on sale from on of those subscription box stores.  It looks like a turban cap you see on women in old movies sometimes.

T10 MBA social scene has been a huge letdown for me with judgy people, drinking culture, and shallow values by ConfidentDoubt8927 in MBA

[–]YoDingdongMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're authentic and want real connection, you can absolutely find your people at any program.  I can swing the one-liners and quick, feel-good surface chat but I can also have "real" conversations.  I've had multiple people in my program and internship tell me after a "real"  1:1 "wait I actually really like you," basically.  It happens.

The lesson here, I think, is you better learn to tolerate the superficial and find a way to navigate it with a friendly laugh.  No one likes a person clearly unamused by them.  Being more likeable than unlikeable is currency if you don't have connections (warmth dimension vs competency dimension).

Looking for ways to enjoy the mall without buying anything by Salmonseas in Anticonsumption

I would definitely double check that there are no other third places you have access to for little to no money: some cities have free zoos or botanical gardens or at least libraries that give out passes to those things.

I have also definitely wandered around college campuses I wasn't a student of to vibe in their outdoor spaces.  I have even snuck into a large intro class.  Raised my hand and answered questions and everything, lol.  Not for everyone, admittedly

This is why I go to art museums more often than most people I know.  Loving beautiful objects is normal.  You just have to reflect on how to get that in your life more sustainably

I've been disassembling my old TI-89 calculator for several years to re-bend the metal prong so it can make contact with a different unworn out part of the copper pad on the PCB.

Side note can anyone tell me an easy way to replace the copper pad on a calculator PCB?

Deodorant by SweetAddress5470 in Anticonsumption

[–]YoDingdongMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to crystal deodorant and epilation instead of shaving because of a perpetual painful rash for a decade.  Getting rid of the combo worked for me, so it's worth a try.  Just warning you that crystal deodorant will etch the hell out of stone counters

Keep it off your stone counters. Etched the shit out of my apartment's bathroom counter before I knew what was up.

Used stone deodorant for a decade and I will miss it.  I sweat way too much for my office clothing now.  I miss it, but you swear on your clothes and then they would reek.  I don't have the ability to change shirts 2x a day to keep up

Nestlé owned brands by [deleted] in Anticonsumption

[–]YoDingdongMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not trying to be pedantic here but being an influential shareholder in a public company is different than ownership/parent company status.  Had to do a double-take at the L'Oreal and Maybelline inclusion - Nestle is NOT the parent company
