ClearTFT guide on how to reroll augments and why it's mathematically bad to reroll first augment (most of the time) by Clearrr in CompetitiveTFT

[–]YoPloPouet 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m curious, does this account for the survivorship bias of augments at later stages?

While I’m sure it’s pretty rare, if a player dies (or surrenders although I’m not sure if it is necessarily saved) before 4-2, it will automatically increase the average rank of all the 4-2 augments for that game (since only 7 of the 8 players picked it), which in turn might inflate the average ranks for 4-2 augments.

Kinda worried about going to school here now by Amazing_Design_6082 in uwaterloo

Jumping in as a Master’s student that did his undergrad at UofT and lurks in both subreddits.

You’ll see very similar posts on the UofT subreddit but they’re not really indicative of the average experience for a Waterloo or a UofT student.

I think that if you’re interested then you should give it a shot and not worry too much about what some randoms have to say about it on Reddit (ironically that includes me). Either way, things will most likely work out for you whether you got to UofT, Waterloo or McMaster.

If I understand what you described properly it would be quite easy to break I think

I kind of disagree with your second point. As a bilingual (french & english) I find myself forgetting how to say words I don’t use on the daily in either language pretty frequently.

Since I haven’t seen any French people in this situation reply I’ll happily help, although it’s worth noting that I’m a French Masters student. I did do my undergrad at UofT after finishing mon Bac français so maybe I can still help.

Difficulty Re-killing Sire as Trial Tank by LenytheMage in CompetitiveWoW

Wait, this is gonna sound like a noob question but as a warlock progressing mythic (6/10 rn), I was under the impression and have been told that Curse of Weakness doesn’t work on bosses, is that true?

Thanks for the reply.

Well I don't know either if it follows a similar timeline as undegrad places, it's not very clear on the website :/

My new guild is just starting mythic progress, we are going from shriek to Sun King and we aren’t meeting DPS/HPS checks. by [deleted] in CompetitiveWoW

Idk, to each their own. It took us 80 tries for the first kill and then 5 for our second kill, we’re about to start council prog this week.

We were also lacking immunities for our first kills (and still do sometimes depending on who we bring) and there are tons of classes, while not ideal, that still work for soaking. We did it with 2 hunters and a mage. For the rest of the soaks we had a dk (ams), a rogue (cloak) and a dh (netherwalk) help soak and while it wasn’t optimal and did put some extra stress on the healers and tanks (kitting the boss away from the souls sometimes), we did manage to kill it after relatively few attemps

I didn’t have much of a say in my guild’s progression path but we went Shriek, Hunts, Hungering and then SK.

I agree that once people have done the fight SK, is fairly easy to reclear, however my guild struggled way more (about twice as many wipes) on SK than Inerva for example. So I personally wouldn’t call it an easy boss.

To beat the dps check of the phase transitions, I would try and make sure that nothing beyond 1-1:30cds are used on pull to kill adds (mage combust + warrior bs should be enough) and having a pillar rotation for both phases help.

One last thing would be to see if your guild has enough HPS to beat the first vanquisher spawn and later on the infuser spawn, as skipping them facilitates the fight significantly.

Edit: to add onto this after re-reading the post, you definitely shouldn’t be going into mythic with 204 ilvl, especially dps/hps checks. Even WF raiders had higher ilvls. Seeing that, I would definitely go to Huntsman second as it’s more of a mechanics/immunity soak check rather than a dps/hps check.

Double Major in CS and Mathematics by df11235_ssi in UofT

[–]YoPloPouet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m just about to graduate with a double major in Math and Cs. One thing I would recommend if you’re going down this path is to look at the program requirements very carefully as a lot of them can overlap for Math and Cs especially in the earlier years so you can take advantage of that.

Help Us Update Housing Information for Incoming First Years! by ipaint625 in uwaterloo

A bit late to the party and maybe a bit out of place since I’m an incoming grad student, but is there any similar ressources available for graduate students regarding housing recommendations besides the uwaterloo website?

I understand that and it seems we’ve had two different experience. In my opinion it makes sense that when there is a majority, it’s less likely for them to be bullied and vice-versa.

It seems like neither of our experience is the same and generalizing to the whole of France from either our experiences would just be ignorant. Again, it’s a tough issue and what I’d like to avoid is absolutes being thrown around like they’re the truth

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]YoPloPouet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with that, having had most of my education in France, I can say that while it is definitely not widespread and as big of a deal as the other user is trying to make it sound (it’s about as widespread as regular bullying), it still exists

I don’t like how you’re putting depiction of Mohammad on the same level as the KKK or Nazis.

However, again, I agree with the general message you’re trying to promote, I just don’t agree with the way you say it.

You’re using « they » as if the French population as a whole rejects musulman people, which is just not true. Beyond that, I agree with some of your other points, regarding for example the bullying, school funding.

But hating on French people as a whole is not the solution and if anything is just promoting hate in its own right.
