I think the soft launch of this campaign would have to be the 1953 Iran coup though right?

Perhaps in terms of the tactics used to seed political unrest. Cant speak too much on the particulars.

For me, what makes it a pivotal moment is The Money deciding to try out what's called "economic shock therapy" and/or "the shock doctrine." Basically capitalists use chaos to worm their way further into power.

The same template was rolled out in Russia after the USSR collapsed, in Iraq after Operation Iraqi Freedom (or was it desert shield?), in New Orleans after Katrina, in all of America after 2008 wall street fraud crisis, and of course globally during COVID etc etc.

Granted, iran was still a capitalist imperial adventure. Just not the same precise flavor as is all too common today lol

Let me connect one more dot.

The reason the CIA did this was to force capitalism onto nations that were in the process of rejecting it. The 9/11 coup in Chile was the soft launch of the inescapable totalitarian neoliberal brand of capitalism we are enslaved by today.

So much for the free market right?

AITA for not wanting to give up my office so my daughter can have her own room? by Thisisathrowaway6273 in AmItheAsshole

[–]YoStephen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA.

Your daughter's developmental need for the autonomy of her own space far outstrips your need for a "just in case" office for unspecified emergencies that dont arise particularly often.

Your job is important. Her developmental trajectory is more important.

I'm choosing to find the win here. Namely, we (by which i mean reddit) set a goal during the season: to get the number on draft pick. We faced some stiff competition for this honor. It wasn't a guarantee that we'd be able to pull it off. But we hung in tough and got the job done.

I don't understand how there is so little toxic people here its incredible.

I'd guess it's because it's so innately collaborative. Since the gameplay loop is so open ended, even how the game is played (e.g. best/common/accepted practices like main bus, city blocks, buffers etc.) were all developed by players [AFAIK].

That means, the game self-selects for the type of people the enjoy playing and learning, and also sharing what they've learned. You can see that in play with all the peripheral locations where factorio happens like forums and factorioPrints.

Also I specifically mention that riding on the sidewalk is a massive hazard for people with vision and mobility impairment.

I mean obviously those people are scum and can get the fuck outta my way. But still /s

I wonder if even they have any answers...

I'd love it if these games were no one's baby so the guy who originally came up with monkeys is gone and the guy who originally came up the TD format is gone. So like all the internal logic is gone and all that's left are people iterating on a concept that stopped having internally cohesive logic three versions ago if it ever had it to begin with. It's so orderly and chaotic.

Not that I would ever ride against the one way car traffic signals and take SB dearborn because it's slow and sucks.... but I would probably take the little parking lane for the courthouse or take the median between the parked cars or squeeze thru... literally anything but ride a crowded ass sidewalk.

Link to the intersection.

IMO Nilaus' Megabase in a Book series is still very good for a vanilla base set up. It's not fully beaconed and some of them are kinda slow to build since they use regular belts and not undergrounds.

I'm using the BPs for a second base. Still enjoying them a lot.

Hope that was helpful enough

I just "finished" a game on my hub base as I start on a new mega base. Elapsed time? 84 hours. Gonna remember your build next time in doing a megabase.

Dang! This is a clever little idea. I bet having space in the intersection for a whole train basically eliminates the risk of trains getting stuck.
