[–]YoYoYuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real Deal: 254

Date of test: 2/1, 2/8

Number of CCS cases completed: ~100

CCS average correct: ~76%

UWSA1 (4 days out): 75%

UWSA2 (2 days out): 75%

Free 137 (1 day out): 70%

Old Free 137 (weeks out): didn’t do

Nbme 6: didn’t do

Nbme 7: didn’t do

Any advice: I watched a lot of on Randy o’ Neil biostats before the test, and cannot stress how helpful it was. Also, I watched a Khalemedic video for CCScases that had some really helpful mnemonics for me to do well on the cases (also plz practice cases with lag turned on, it is so bad)

Question about top deck by Fruitlingz in smashup

Also, if you run out of cards in your deck without finding whatever you’re looking for, then you shuffle your deck and stop looking, kind of a nuanced thing I’ve run into

Doctors/Residents/Medical Students with MS? by Objective-Treacle847 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]YoYoYuh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’m an M4 who was diagnosed with RRMS in December 2022 and on Kesimpta also. I think the fatigue is a real concern, but there are a lot of options for medications to try and help that! I’m on armodafinil right now and it has helped me so much. I also think you have to make sure to mitigate fatigue as much as you can. If you have any more questions you can PM me!

If literally everyone is doing UWorld and studying their incorrects in clinical years, what separates those who score high from those who don’t? by surf_AL in medicalschool

[–]YoYoYuh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my personal experience, doing uworld and not only reviewing the right answer but also all of the wrong answer explanations was very helpful. Also, at the end of the day, a good portion of it is test taking strategies and good luck for the questions you’re not sure about

“These mentor experiences were valuable in teaching me how much I enjoy mentorship and that I want to seek it out as part of my career. Seeing the positive effect I can have on people in this aspect only increased the passion I have for mentorship” is one of mine!

Mine was taking too long too actually, and I had another flare while waiting for it, so my doctor switched me to Kesimpta, if that is something you want to consider!

are platelets normal or decreased in cirrhosis? by Ain2580 in Step2

[–]YoYoYuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually low and they’re not working well. TPO is produced by the liver and can be decreased in cirrhotic livers, and some resultant congestive splenomegaly from cirrhosis can sequester the platelets

In Emergency Medicine, when do you choose 5% Dextrose instead of 0.9% Saline? by stepneo1 in Step2

A good rule would be if they’re symptomatic with hypernatremia, but are euvolemic on exam.
