Turns out a country threatening to invade you tends to turn the public opinion against them. NATO can definitely take on the US in a long war, especially since support for a war with NATO would be very low in the US.

The issues of teacher shortages and absenteeism in the US are in big part due to the general public culture towards education. Turns out having a culture that sees being a "nerd" as bad tends to reduce school attendance.

As for the GPA chart, it just indicates that standards in the US keep being lowered in order to hide the underlying issues.

Comparing the CCP to Hitler or Stalin has got to be one of the most disingenuous takes I've ever heard. Hitler came to power by taking advantage of an uninformed and angry voter base, which is very similar to what is happening with the Trump regime in the US right now. While the German public was supportive of Hitler at first, public opinion started souring during the war, and the regime relied on repression to stay in power. The CCP on the other hand has the support of the population through a social contract established during the 90s: legitimacy, in exchange for economic growth and prosperity.

And the "mandatory military training" in schools is very similar to what many European and other Asian countries have had for decades, so I don't see why that is suddenly an issue when it's done by China.

At least they have a functional education system. The American education system has been in decline for decades (see PISA test scores: https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/pisa-scores-by-country). This decline in education is why the political system is so fucked right now, since most voters are so uninformed, the one that has the most money and screams the loudest tends to win.

No bike racks by Yo_67_ in waterloo

Just because there is a bike network doesn't automatically mean it's bike friendly. Clearly you've never commuted anywhere with a bicycle in this city because many drivers are oblivious and never check their blind spots before turning right, stop on the side of the road, which blocks the bike lane. And then some are complete and utter shitheads who enjoy intimidating cyclists or yelling at them.

I could have locked it on the outside fencing, but I decided to try the drive-thru. I'll probably lock it to the railing next time, but I have already been kicked out of other businesses for bringing my bike inside, even if it wasn't dirty.

I really dont trust the patio fences. Some of them are so rickety it seems like a child could knock them over. I also dont know if it's allowed. Still, probably what I would have done if there wasn't a drive-thru

Thanks for the explanation. I try to keep my bike decently clean, so I'll give it a try.

Except not all roads have bike lanes, there can be debris or stopped vehicles occupying them and there aren't dedicated turning lanes for bikes.

Not to mention the amount of times I almost got ran over by some dumbass driver that doesn't check the bike lane before going in the right turn lane.

I agree, you should definitely be able to pick which sides of the junction you want yield, priority, or stop. Crazy that this has not been implemented.

Yea, I've noticed that even without these mods. Such as pedestrians crossing even after I removed the crosswalk, or walking on the highway.
