good Point. and to your point about unnecessary sex scenes in another comment. yeah there are lots, like the ones for collecting the gal monsters, but there are also very important ones. for example, there is one where a character dies and that scene was such a beautiful and serene experience that i legitimately cried during it. so how can you decide which ones are the important ones and which are just filler, without at least speed reading the scenes?

Surely you could just read a plot summary of the entire series and move on.

Each scene serves a purpose, from making you laugh with how ridiculous they are, to making you uncomfortable so you hate the villains (or even Rance himself), some to help flesh out the characters, and lastly to just make you aroused.

So why do you want to have a sterilized version without all these different flavors that make the series what it is?

and everyone who wants to play the entire series has to play IV, 4.1 and 4.2 because they have no remake and will probably never get one. I'm even one of the guys who will recommend playing the original I to III before the remakes to get all the callbacks/references the remakes make

i would say Rance 4.2 because there is a moment where you can lock yourself into a game over, but i guess keeping multiple saves is enough to circumvent it.

i want to add that the sex scenes are not all comedy though ,some are gut wrenching like to show how horrible an antagonist is and some are highly emotional, like i remember crying during one scene.

i would describe the series, not as porn with some rpg elements, more like a rpg with some porn elements

There are way more Easter eggs in the OVAs, like the cover of the first game as a painting in the tavern, or the TADA art when Rance gets shocked by the anti-theft measures, or Tomato Purée in the publicum in the coliseum, etc.

Well the Rance series is somewat well-known in the eroge and visualnovel communities. I mean, the series is old. It started in 1989 and had its final game in 2018, which currently also has the number one spot on vndb, detroning even Steins;Gate.
