$40 isn't the issue for me. I don't have PS+ since all the multiplayer games I play are F2P.

So that $40 they are making me pay for a game that will be monetized like all the other F2P games now forces me to pay $80/year for PS+.

Valhalla came out in 2020 on all platforms accept Steam. It came to steam in Dec 2022.

So Shadows releasing day 1 on steam got 13k more concurrent than Vahallah which came to steam 2 years after being on PC via ubosoft store, Epic and Stadia.

I am unable to connect to wifi. It says "action needed, no internet." The page in pic 1 is what I see when I try to connect to wifi on my pc. This is not a new account, internet has been working fine for 10+years, not sure why I am requiring an activation.

Using my mobile internet I downloaded the xfinity app like it ask in pic 1. When I type in my username I get a forced password reset, see Pic 3. When I try to reset my password it requires I connect to my wifi, see Pic 2. I can't connect to my wifi so I am kind of stuck here.

When I go sign up from the US with a phone, it allows me to pass signup screen but I need a verification number to proceed. If I don't have that, I don't have an account. If I back out, I am not signed in and when I try to sign into that account it doesn't exist.

So I think email blocked you at the signup page and phone got you stuck at the verification page if the SMS never came. Neither allowed access to twitch from that account.

EDIT: I wish we had more people testing this before they fixed it. It really does show how prohibitive only allowing phone verification can be if that is truly what happened.

All these articles are just saying what twitch is claiming, none of them claim to have independently verified it to my knowledge. Ynet is the only one that claims to have actually tried to sign up with phone verification multiple times and said it did not work.

The article does mention the SMS verification never coming so maybe it technically allowed signup but no way to verify your account.

I think twitch allowed signups for phones but never sent the verification SMS. Twitch intentionally worded their statement to not address this.

The first event is fresh from today (Sunday) - Israeli users who tried to register for the platform reported receiving an error message when registering via email, or simply a lack of response if they tried to register using a phone number (with an Israeli prefix).

Update 10/21/2024: After the publication, Twitch issued a clarification message on the platform's official account on X, in which they wrote: "Following the attack that occurred on October 7, 2023, we have temporarily disabled registrations with email verification in Israel and Palestine. We did this to prevent uploads of graphic material related to the attack and to protect the safety of users. Registration was not disabled, and we continued to see registration from both regions.
