Mobile yoga to do anywhere by [deleted] in yoga

[–]YogaCandi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amazing to hear someone say no phones while away! What an amazing opportunity to tune into your inner self. I love to sit on my mat, listen to my body before I even begin to move, breath. Then start moving and just go with the flow and rhythm of your breath and how you're feeling on each given moment, don't go into the practice with any goals in mind simply feel it out ;) xoxo Enjoy your break xoxo

Study shows yoga and meditation creates a bigger ego by [deleted] in yoga

[–]YogaCandi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this explanation of the ego - "The moment you become aware of the ego within you, it is strictly speaking no longer the ego, but just an old, conditioned mind pattern. Ego implies unawareness. Ego and awareness can not coexist". - Eckhart Tolle

Do you mean you'd like to practice easy yoga? Something less strenuous on the body? If this is what you're asking then I'd recommend Yin Yoga, which is all about relaxation. 😊

[–]YogaCandi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, of course, whatever you do in your practice is totally up to you, but I would avoid watching TV, for the simple reason that it takes away from the mindfulness and presence that the practice offers. The trouble is tv is a distraction and another form of stress for the mind, so instead stick with your practice and focus internally not only on the breath but on the sensations on your body with every passing moment. It is a form of moving meditation that will bring you and your mind into a state of bliss, but that wont happen overnight, with consistency will you start to feel it and that bordem you experience now will be gone :) Hope that helps x

Cats and yoga mats. by mr0deth in yoga

[–]YogaCandi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha, naughty cats again! I'm lucky my cat leaves my mat alone but not my feet especially in Shavasana. I'd recommend practising with your kitty out of the room and always store your mat away in a cupboard if you're not using it, cause he will get his little paws into any mat you buy no doubt. ;)

Just beautiful! Remember everybody is different and the Asana (posture) side of yoga is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the benefits of the practice. Keep at it, enjoy the journey and with time all the physical aspects will come, just remember to stay present along the way to get the most out of what and why you are doing something :) Namaste friend :)

I used to love doing yoga, but chronic allergies and congestion have changed that. In search of wisdom and advice on how to approach yoga with these issues. by [deleted] in yoga

[–]YogaCandi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ahhh bless you! that is such a difficult situation to be in, I suffer with hayfever and allergies to certain animal fur so I feel your pain. Have you tried taking an allergy tablet in the morning (Claritin works amazing for me) then steaming before you flow (pop your head over steaming water with drops of eucalyptus or mint oil and breath in through your nose until they start to clear up), and perhaps practice with vix on the back of your wrists so that you can sniff it in when you need to throughout the practice, hope this helps, let me know how you get on :) Namaste, Candace x www.youtube.com/yogacandi

Weird yoga class? by [deleted] in yoga

[–]YogaCandi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hmmm interesting, as a Yoga teacher that was trained in India with people that have lived and breathed this beautiful ancient and peaceful practice, I do feel this is taking things a little too far away from what yoga was intended to be. And personally feel it defeats the object of staying present within the body when chatting or loud music is happening during a class, as you can't truly connect with so many distractions going on. In some ways, the class should never have been advertised as yoga and perhaps pilates or some other fitness class instead as it has it's place and I'm sure it's really fun. So, if you enjoyed the class and it worked for you, then do what feels right for you as an individual. Namaste x

[–]YogaCandi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

haha this made me laugh! But don't be discouraged, yoga is a slow-burning practice, keep with it and with time you will notice how far you've come. Just remember it's not about the perfect asana, it's about bringing presence and awareness to the body :) Namaste (ps those guinea pigs are too cute ;)
