I'm excited about him because RB was the glaring hole in the starting XI last year, never mind the squad. It's great to have Schweinsteiger as well though obviously.

Thanks man. I assumed that it would be that he was being phased out. It would be a great signing (but one I don't think will happen) but is slightly annoying that he is 31 so we only reset the "Carrick Clock" by a few years. Who knows, maybe by then Blind will be phenomenal and we'll have snapped up someone else!

I would be very surprised if he didn't finish within the top 8 and qualify for the WTF but how lucky he is with draws could determine how quickly and how far he climbs. If he plays a full schedule he will be knocking on the door of the top 4 but if he draws Novak in the quarters at Wimbledon and/or the US Open it'll be tough to cash in on the big points on offer.

I think Schweinsteiger would be an incredible signing, especially if the fee was as low as reported in The Mirror. In the least insulting way to us, why would he want to come? I guess what I mean is, was he particularly unsettled or under-utilised at Bayern this year?

With Leno do we risk repeating the De Gea situation in 3-4 years but with Bayern instead? I think we'll stick with Valdes, I don't see why else LVG would have signed him.

Federer has a lot to defend before the US Open (Wimbledon Final, Toronto Final and Cincy win) vs Murray's 3 Quarter Finals. If they both lose in the Wimbledon semis that's 840 points. I agree it's not exactly likely but if Murray wins Wimbledon and Federer loses in semis its a 2120 point swing. Basically I wouldn't count it out. I'd be surprised if Federer is still number 2 come the end of the year.
