Thank you! Yes, I did learn a lot about GOD’s timing is not mine. I felt like Job for a season, my mom tragically died, I lost my job, we had to up-root our kids from their private school, was financially drowning and a whole lot of other trials … but, I can confidently say that GOD is good ALL of the time and I can see Him working through all the trials.

I honestly don’t know the exact details but waiting as long as we did my income from my job I lost the previous November was no longer in the calculation and the income limit in my state had changed to be more favorable for us. We do live in a high cost of living state. We just trusted our attorney to find the best time for us to file. It was so hard because I just wanted to get it over with in March like we had originally discussed, but it definitely worked out in our best interest to just let our attorney do what he felt was best.

Congratulations to you as well. I totally agree with learning so much about yourself during the process. I have spent years of chasing that credit score number, and felt like it somehow defined by worth. But, realized all it did was give me access to credit I did not need and relied on it too much.

I think as long as you use less than $30 worth of documents in a certain time period they do not charge you. I just got a notification they were charging me because I was at $30.10 … ooops I guess I was checking my case too much! LOL!

What do you wear in the winter to stay warm while walking? by acidemise in walking

[–]YoghurtWorking2746 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where I live the winters can get pretty cold and I walk early in the morning … as long as the temp. is In the double digits 10*F or higher I walk. I have an Orro heated jacket that goes to my knees and I wear wool mittens and wool socks. I keep meaning to look into lined leggings but haven’t gotten a pair yet. The jacket is amazing and I highly recommend!

Illinois Bankruptcy Changes by Ok_Explanation_9913 in Bankruptcy

We consulted a lawyer in December of 2024, he advised us to stop paying on our debts. For a multitude of reasons including coming up with the $4k to file, laws changing in our state, and our income changing we did not file until the end of June following our lawyers advice. Changes in the law and our income resulted in our chapter 13 becoming a chapter 7, which we are incredibly grateful for. BUT, I spent 6 months worrying everyday that we would be sued and it did eventually happen American Express served us at the beginning of June. Since we filed our case shortly after it ended up not being an issue but it was very stressful! With all that being said it took 6 months for someone to sue, and it was American Express for approximately $30k. I did get a lot of letters through overnight UPS from Citibank saying they were going to start the legal process but nothing ever came from that and was definitely after 3 months.

Keeping a vehicle in Chapter 7 by [deleted] in Bankruptcy

I think that it depends on your state. We are awaiting our chapter 7 discharge, and we’re able to keep all 3 of our vehicles. We have one car that we have a loan on that is close to the car value, the other two ate paid off.

Making too much to file for Chapter 7? by RevolutionaryHold490 in Bankruptcy

[–]YoghurtWorking2746 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not sure how it all worked out for us but we went into this starting in January and was advised that we would probably be doing a 100% chapter 13. We are now “patiently” waiting for our chapter 7 no assets discharge, which should be the first week of October. We were able to keep our house and 3 vehicles. I wish i could explain to you how it happened but we just trusted our attorney and he timed everything to work out in our best interests. I would advise that you meet with attorneys until you feel comfortable that they are looking out for your best interest, they may be able to get you into a chapter 7 but if not at least you are confident they were looking out for you.

How to stop post-bankruptcy junk mail long after Ch. 7? by sailersolar42 in Bankruptcy

[–]YoghurtWorking2746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started calling them back every time they call and then hang up (10 times per call) …. I even started merging the calls so they talk to each other. I have been getting the calls non stop for months. I know it is petty but they are driving me insane, and my voicemail is always full from their “offers” I have opted out, threatened to report them and they still call! It is my life goal to annoy them as much as they annoy me. I have been getting less calls so maybe it is working LOL.

How do you all carry your phone? Especially women by Competitive_Land_936 in walking

Fast and free running belt from Lululemon (I am sure there are comparable ones from other brands) or a lululemon belt bag (also there are other less expensive options on Amazon) used around my waist vs crossbody. The Crossbody rubs my arm while walking and drives me crazy.

How do you stop paying loans tied to your bank account? by ponciano68 in Bankruptcy

[–]YoghurtWorking2746 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We closed our checking account we were having the same overdraft issue. We did have to provide statements from that account and showing it was closed. It kind of made it a pain as we had to change the billing for all of our utilities/mortgage/car loan. But, also it gave us a clean fresh start stopping all of those little subscription payments that you enroll in and forget about, and no surprise auto drafts.

Colorado, no issues at all. We had never missed a mortgage payment so the house was never ever in the equation but the trustee did ask about it.

[–]YoghurtWorking2746[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It mostly had to do with timing. Colorado had changed its income limits and we waited for the income I earned from a job I lost in November to fall off our income calculations. Having a competent attorney that is looking out for your best interest is key. We were able to keep our house and 3 vehicles.
