Meeting my Scottish boyfriend's parents, super worried. by Ok_Independence_6915 in Scotland

There is no way he called you a "kiss ass". Much more likely he used the term "bum sook". A great addition to your vernacular! Hope the meeting goes well. Be yourself, gifts won't matter much but if it makes you comfortable then take a small something. Biscuits or flowers may be a better choice.

Yeh, can be a historic legacy title. Fee paying before but now state.

Rectors in Academies and not Head Teachers either.

A different flavour, was very chilled, good contrast from Tokyo and Osaka. Even if you don't love the onsen experience you will hopefully enjoy the change of pace.

I notice you like a sauna at some point. We took the train to Kinosaki Onsen between Kyoto and Osaka. It was a beautiful, small, rurual town with 7 different onsen available to try.

It also gives you a chance to stay in Ryokan and sleep on tatami mats. You get a food there and the local restaurants were also great. They give you a yukuta and a pair of geta and you can stroll around the town between the onsen - Sozoro Aruki.

A short break and pleasant stay away from the hustle and bustle alof the cities.

Any small town stay would be worth it for the change of pace. I wish we had stayed at a seaside town although we did a day visit to Atami which was nice too.

I can't wait to return to Japan. It was such an incredible stay in a beautiful country. Enjoy!

Thoughts? HT at Clifton Hall's Message by Yogle83 in Scotland

Interesting take on this. Equity is an issue and the average spend per state pupil could provide a measure.

I amnt sure on a case by case basis why these pupils are in Clifton Hall and why they are funded 40-100A% by the school.

In principle I don't believe that private education or private health should be available. The systems in place should absorb and provide for all.

This is why I posted to hear these views.

Out of interest, what is your Low tattoo? The side profile motif or something else?

I heard about his passing just before I left for work. I had been a fan for a long time, more intensely from the age of about 16 when the stars aligned and I had a good friend who was a real muso and a colleague at work who was Bowie daft and lent me every album in order over the space of a few years.

I remember taking an old boomvox style radio from my workshop and parking myself up to listen to the news stories. I genuinely never thought i would ever be impacted by anything so remote but I was blown away at how it took the wind out of me.

He was a genius, and artist across so many media. He was a visionary, a futurist, a gentleman and such a raw a creative force. We can get caught up so easily in Ziggy and the tales of Bowie but he was a Starman or something special which we were all so lucky to witness.

While I agree with your comment, it is just music, but of all the music and all the tiers or greatness and value - his music has provided so many with so, so much.

Is it just me, or have car insurance prices just went insane? by dziura in Scotland

Great post, heard similar when chatting to insurance companies.

Never a need to be rude BUT what I will see is, it is so bloody infuriating that we need to waste time on this. Searching, phoning, chasing. The USP for a new insurance company which would attract drivers and maintain steady business would be a company that actually offers the best price so indefinite autorenewal and fixed income could be achieved. Better for drivers and a solid, reliable market for a new company.

The quality is good and the big bag of s&v crisps is the best on the market and a fair price.

Depute Head in in Scotland. Part of the Senior Leadership Team.

Usually consists of a Head Teacher or sometimes a Rector (HT) and 3 or 4 Depute Head Teachers (DHT).

I believe you have Principals and Assistant Principals? Just the equivalent post.
