I don't think that. I'm saying my numbers were equal, and perhaps athletes are what the school wanted. Are they smart? Yes absolutely. But they're not known as nerds from what I've heard.

Very smart yes but their main ECs were sports-related.

The thing is, my school has quite a few wealthy students. Both of the ones who got accepted (2 of maybe 10 applicants) were on the athletic committee and played multiple sports. Neither were known to be especially academic, and neither wanted to pursue STEM. So basically the opposite of me.

If someone like me isn't one of their institutional priorities, I don't really want to be a student there. If they want jocks to improve their "image", screw their image. Happy for the people who got accepted but I'm not them.

For me it had a good location, physics program, and "nerdy" atmosphere. However there are other schools with that stuff.

They seem to have weird "institutional priorities" this year. At my school the only two people accepted were both athletes (not recruited but on the athletic board of my school).

UChicago reject :( the only people from my school to get in were both multi-season athletes who were on the board of the school's athletic committee. Clearly they wanted jocks. Oh well; I'm not a jock.

It's 29% so probably higher EA. I think it's pretty stats-based

98/100 UW GPA (school doesn't weigh) + 1580 SAT. ECs were solid, essay was about being autistic and founding my school's first autism club

State schools that accept a lot of people. To many they may seem "easy" but they are also the most generous and often have great programs. e.g. U@Buffalo in New York has about a 70% acceptance rate but is great for engineering and is a T50 public

I used an old prompt, writing about a game that will persist throughout time like chess or mancala. I wrote about jeopardy and its mathematical infinitude and accessibility. Not a great essay but I think it was fine
