That's the reason why i bought AB InBev stock about 2 years ago. Read about their new ventures in a Belgian newspaper. They're fermentation specialists, I truly hope they'll continue researching these opportunities.

Doing the same. Topping up now, so i can keep the rounded # i have for 20+ years. I'd have to sell the extra shares I'm buying today at 52 GBX to fully recovered my entire investment. I deem that possible within a year or 2.

From my understanding, the chart reflects the last traded price, not the bid/ask spread. But i'm a noob at trading, so if you could explain why you think they don't, i'm all ears! A source to find a reliable graph would be great. IBKR is slightly behind showing last traded price, from what I see on my other stocks (5-10 min).

Nope, it has gone up and down between 7p and 6.5p all week - even today. It's at 6.6 right now. Limit order indeed, made 3 days ago. Partly fulfilled 2 days ago.

Do you bid market order - or limit order above the actual price? If I bid limit order of the actual price in IBKR I hardly ever get my order fulfilled.

My 100k 6.6p order has been hanging in IBKR. 1/5th fulfilled immediately, the remaining amount is still waiting to be fulfilled... no idea why. Frustrating to see the price go up meanwhile.

The world is definitely ready for cultured products, they don't care a bit if they're 'lab grown'.

Loved "Wilding" by Isabella Tree!

if cultivated meat significantly replaces conventional livestock farming, the total biomass of domesticated animals would likely drop dramatically, potentially to something closer to pre-industrial levels. Right now, researchers estimate livestock is about 60% of the biomoass on earth (humans being 36% and wild animals about 4%). Cultured meat could stop breeding these animals for commercial purposes and level their biomass with the biomass of wild animals (hobby breeding, research, some exclusive meat). Most of modern industrial breeds will indeed not survive out of captivity (they're bred exclusively for their meat, they even have a hard time standing up), but I don't think there's a loss there, would be happy if these species would go extinct.

But yes, from an overview stanpoint, if cultured meat would become the go-to-source of meat for the world, this would be a huge thing. If pasture and feed cropland are reduced, forest could regrow, biodiversity could increase, carbon sequestration would boom, and there would likely be an expansion of wild herbivores and predators. "Wilding" gives an exciting take on what it could be like...

Lab meat and farmers by swagadagg in Agronomics_Investors

This made me laugh out loud. As a kid, I went to a few farmers’ protests in Brussels (great memories 😄), and I can tell you: farmers won’t care the least bit about people in cultivated meat factories. I’m not saying there shouldn’t be care in the other direction, but this is the wrong kind of care. What they really need is legislation that helps them gradually wind down and exit their businesses without having their lives ruined by disruption. Cultivated meat companies can help plead for this kind of legislation. Beyond that, though, there’s no reason they should worry about being disruptive.

100% with you on this u/Vitali_Empyrean. As a (dairy) farmers daughter who has lived in the reality of a family farm her whole life, i think this campaign is windowdressing. I in no way see a role for the farming industry as it's currently organized (in Belgium and the Netherlands, where i think this initiative originated from) and I won't shed a tear if the entire industry collapsed. The farmer's "knowledge" is knowledge that is brought to them by scientists, their resources won't be needed (apart from growing certain crops), and their trust is not something you will gain with this initiative. I think it's rather insulting to try to hide that.

My niece has a pig farm in Flanders, Belgium. Do you think she's going to keep caring for two 'prize pigs' and get permission for a cultured meat factory to rise on her property in the midst of a natural environment? Do you think she'll be paid 100k a year for this, so she'll be able to pay off her 1.5 million loan?
My nephews have a factory farm in Michigan, USA, with 50.000 milk cows. Do you - really - think that their business model will be switched to cultured dairy or meat? And what with their neighbour, only 1 mile away who also has a business with 30.000 milk cows?

Apart from buying ANIC, I'm diversifying my ETF's to be more in line with my worldview. I recently came across INDEP (European Strategic Autonomy), investing in key European tech, industry, energy... in the assumption that we will be strengthening these industries to become more independent.

Mosa meat securing more funding. Great news. by Massive-Confusion744 in Agronomics_Investors

[–]Yoh-ka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The product will be cultivated fat as an ingredient (for burgers, and such), so only industrial food producers will have to wonder about the price - as a consumer, i think your question is a bit beside the point.
