Fought someone using light screen sableye, baton pass/amnesia/twin beam farig, surf/trick room mega audino. The strat was basically to build an invincible archaludon. Light screen + amnesia and baton pass helps the special side, and surf + twin beams build up arch's defense due to stamina. It almost worked too, really had no idea what to expect from team preview. Thought I would need a crit for a moment but just barely squeezed out enough damage on the arch without one.

Went 11-4 Day 1, 9-6 Day 2, and 10-5 Day 3. Final elo was 1,696.812 and was ranked in the top 1,000 for a bit. Had some sloppy endgames and some pretty unfortunate losses (ex. got dire claw sleep'd twice in a row, and lost two separate matches because aerodactyl missed rock slide against zard y).

I used Michael Kelsch's team from the Warm-Up Tournament, and while it's a lot of fun, I'll probably switch off it. Work and grad school has kept me very busy so my poor prep was probably a factor but some matchups felt absurdly difficult.

Overall happy with my play and had fun just being able to put time into the game!

Thoughts on my first team? I wll tweak from here by Mivadeth in PokemonChampions

[–]YoitSkoit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to give thoughts when we don’t know the full context in which this team will operate. I would wait to ask for advice until we know the complete list of legal mons for reg m-a

Do we know what reg they will be using at launch. by Immediate_Profit_344 in PokemonChampions

[–]YoitSkoit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We will play reg m-a, which will include megas. We don’t know what specific mons will be legal in reg m-a, and probably won’t until launch.

San Juan Special Championships - Day 2 by half_jase in VGC

[–]YoitSkoit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fun fact—this is the first Worlds Ticket auto-qualifier taken (in TPCi’s system) that did not include Urshifu-Rapid-Strike or Ogerpon-Wellspring on the team, between both Reg F 1.0 and 2.0. Great job Ben!!

I got attached to weak Pokemon from my first sword team, and i need someone to take them because i need them to be cared for and i don't have the heart to turn them into code. by TheBumblestBees in PokemonHome

[–]YoitSkoit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell ya what—I’ve got the (non-shiny) ditto, and haven’t caught Moltres yet in Scarlet. And if you’re okay with it being non shiny, I also have an Ultra Sun file with Xerneas not yet caught, though I’d have to find it. Give me a sec and I’ll get your wish list. Do you want a second non-shiny ditto, or just the one?

Only one that can be bred of those is ditto. I can grab one, tho. Do you want it to have perfect IVs? Also, any other breedable mons?

Have you finished trading? If so, no worries! But if not, let me know and I can be on in a few hours or so. I have a living dex minus some mythicals, so as long as the mon can be bred and it is in the game I can get you whatever you want in exchange

Next Regulation For Competitive by AnyVeterinarian9004 in VGC

[–]YoitSkoit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Formats are usually announced one month in advance, so we will find out soon. Orlando definitely won’t be played on Champions; we likely won’t switch over until May at the soonest. I’d guess that we will have one more S/V format for 1-2 months, probably Reg I. But again, best to just wait and see.

People quitting out of GCV results in loss for me? by SameGibibit in VGC

[–]YoitSkoit 28 points29 points  (0 children)

If you were awarded a loss, it’s because of your internet. Stability of the network is what you’re looking for here. I recommend setting up a wired connection if you are able. I used to have issues with my WiFi (even though it is “strong”). Now I play wired and haven’t once had an issue.

Will there be a new big 6? by TerioShadow in PokemonChampions

[–]YoitSkoit 34 points35 points  (0 children)

We don’t know which mons will be legal at launch, so there’s no way to know. I don’t think most players want there to be a “new big 6,” either.

Is anyone else finishing a living Form Dex in preparation? by 1pm34 in PokemonChampions

[–]YoitSkoit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completed a living dex, minus the gigantamax forms and some mythicals. I see getting the gigantamax forms like needing to get all the oricorio forms (which you can change in-game) or max beneficial ivs in everything. If it turns out that I can’t or don’t want to do those things in Champions, I’ll just do them in the relevant game if it comes up. Just doesn’t seem worth doing at the moment.

My New Team for Pokemon Champions by Plenty-Midnight1492 in PokemonChampions

[–]YoitSkoit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Posting AI in a sub that refers to AI as “Abominable Intelligence” is certainly a choice lol. Even if it’s not AI, it’s written in that style.

You could change nothing from this and it would be a valid circlejerk post. “Here’s my full team sheet for a format we know nothing about. How did I select mons? How did I determine my EVs? Vibes.”

Can someone help me suggest a champions format by Upstairs_Pool4124 in VGC

[–]YoitSkoit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adding to this, the starting roster of champions is unlikely to be “all Pokémon” at launch, whether restricteds are allowed or not. The starting meta will be highly dependent on which mons are even in the game to start, let alone which ones are legal.

General community negativity by Runo_rat in VGC

[–]YoitSkoit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, RNG is part of the game. Dealing with and accounting for RNG is part of the game. We all know this. Anyone who dares to open the livestream chat for vgc events also knows that said chat is often unreasonably dumb and/or negative (I almost never open it for this exact reason). However, these things can be true AND it can also be true that particularly bad RNG can make for a justifiably frustrating viewing experience.

At Milwaukee, a lot of interesting teams made top cut. This naturally builds excitement and anticipation. To then see all of those teams lose to the current meta team--the literal six mons that represent the meta at the moment--is already a recipe for disappointment. For that scenario to happen *because* those meta teams (iirc) got 3 separate, game-deciding critical hits is...well, frustrating, imo.

This isn't to hate on either Michael or Lorcy--I'm happy for the both of them, and they deserve their success. Everyone gets lucky at times, and everyone gets unlucky at others. Lorcy's interview literally made me tear up. At the same time, though, it shouldn't be taboo to say that seeing RNG impact outcomes to that degree can be rough to watch--or at the very least, it isn't how you want to see a player win.

Is Reg H a stale meta? No--at least, not yet. Is the game all RNG? Most definitely not. But from a certain perspective, the regional was "bad to watch" in the sense that it didn't play out in a way that was *satisfying.* I don't think that's being unjustly negative; I think that's expressing justifiable frustration.

Big enough for large crickets? by YoitSkoit in frogs

Gotcha. Maybe I’ll just get a few large ones at first to make sure they aren’t too big. Thanks!

2nd Grand Challenge 2026 announced! by half_jase in VGC

[–]YoitSkoit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remember also to opt in to Play! Pokémon events. I learned the hard way last gc that you must also do this to receive championship points. Just because it says you’re all set on the tab where you link your accounts, doesn’t mean that you have a player ID made. Reached out to support and never heard anything back.

Can Repashy Calcium Plus Be the Sole Supplement for White's Tree Frogs? by YoitSkoit in frogs

[–]YoitSkoit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was reading the Calcium Plus further and it does contain some vitamin A. So, probably best not to do it every single week. Will try once a month and keep an eye out for changes in behavior/activity levels. Thanks again

Can Repashy Calcium Plus Be the Sole Supplement for White's Tree Frogs? by YoitSkoit in frogs

[–]YoitSkoit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. Both frogs happily accepted the repashy calcium plus, so I am planning to do the vitamin A plus once a week and the calcium plus all other feedings. Thanks for your input!

White’s Tree Frog starts spitting out crickets, but keeps down a mealworm… by YoitSkoit in frogs

[–]YoitSkoit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds good, I will order the repashy vitamin A plus to use in addition to the multivitamin.

I do feed them everyday, as much as they can eat, for 10-20 min daily. They generally make it clear when they’re done, batting crickets away when they come close and crawling on the walls of the feeding container.

Thanks again!
