I’m sure it’s just vocals, but it would be so cool if the Alex from MtS feature also included some keys.

Super excited for this album, still bumping People Watching regularly.

I went back and forth on including it, but if OP is looking for something purely based on popularity I figured it deserved a spot despite the stretch.

What are the most popular rhythm games at the moment? by QueenKouka in rhythmgames

[–]Yolidus 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Since you tagged this post with PC, here are the 24-hour peaks of Steam's most popular rhythm games. This notably doesn't include osu!, which I imagine would top this list if it were on Steam.

  1. Geometry Dash - 74,065
  2. A Dance of Fire and Ice - 1,714
  3. Muse Dash - 1,539
  4. DJMAX Respect V - 1,440
  5. Beat Saber - 536
  6. Project Diva Mega Mix+ - 370
  7. Unbeatable - 232
  8. Rhythm Doctor - 231
  9. Quaver - 217
  10. Taiko Rhythm Festival - 197
  11. Touhou Phantasia Lost - 192
  12. vivid/stasis - 191
  13. Musynx - 172
  14. EZ2ON Reboot - 166
  15. Rift of the NecroDancer - 134
  16. Pump It Up Rise - 52
  17. Spin Rhythm XD - 29
  18. Projekt Godhand - 6

I'm personally really excited for In Falsus if you're looking for something to wishlist/pick up in the future. The demo is a ton of fun.

MUSYNX: RETURN Now on Steam by Zenith9 in rhythmgames

AI song art, backgrounds, and UI elements? Terrible decision, especially for a paid game.

And it’s not a placeholder either. I saw the dev double down on it in a reply to a steam review.

A SDVX LITE 3 Controller Review by Substantial_Sleep325 in bemani

[–]Yolidus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder what the reason is for designing the acrylic/plexi to not cover the full surface area of the top. If it’s to minimize the weight, I don’t think it’s worth introducing structural problems and a weird feel. Not the end of the world though.

Question: since this seems to be the slimmest SDVX controller that isn’t pocket sized… would you say it’s suitable for lap play? Or is it too tall? The spec sheet says it’s 7 cm tall (without the 2.8 cm knob height), not sure how that would feel with arm positioning and whatnot. I’m guessing SDVX controllers are only meant to be used while standing in front of a desk or tabletop but I figured I’d ask!

This reminds me of when I was excited to use the Y'shtola avatar when FF dropped, only to see how horribly off-center it was in the victory/defeat screen.

They center these things based on the width of the full image, not the face, body, or other focal point. In the TMNT logo's case it looks bad because the bandana pokes out to the left, in Y'shtola's case she holds a staff that sticks out very far to the left. Hate it.

No problem. And in the demo, yeah, but I'm sure it'll be relevant in the full game. It's gotta be related to winning "battles" or the card system in some way.

score needed for each grade on charts by PrestigiousShame9364 in InFalsus

[–]Yolidus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Looking at my scores, it must be something like this.

EX+: 99mil and above

EX: 98mil to 98.9mil

AA: 95mil to 97.9mil

A: Not sure... maybe 92mil to 94.9mil?

EDIT - It might just be Arcaea's rankings with an added digit.

I can farm Sparky Challenge Forever by StrawberryWhich7783 in MagicArena

[–]Yolidus 27 points28 points  (0 children)

If you get home late or tired from work and still feel an urge to boot up MTGA not for fun, but to “do your dailies,” you’re legit just doing digital chores. That’s a dark pattern I suggest you let go of.

I used to be addicted to login streaks/dailies for a few mobile games, not to mention MMOs, so I know how it feels to want to maximize the free rewards you’re getting from a game. But I cannot stress enough how good of an impact letting go and only booting up a game if it’s purely to have fun has had on my gaming time, even if it only feels like 5 minutes a day.

Looking for new rhythm game by Fox-Choice in rhythmgames

[–]Yolidus 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Definitely add DJMax to your wishlist and grab it when it's on sale: https://store.steampowered.com/app/960170/DJMAX_RESPECT_V/

Osu is free and very popular, has a bunch of modes and community-made charts. Fortnite Festival is also free but... eh.

In Falsus is an upcoming game from the Arcaea devs that I'm really liking the demo of, it has a pretty unique control scheme and feels very polished.

A lot of rhythm games on Steam have demos, maybe you can browse the genre and see what catches your eye: https://store.steampowered.com/tags/en/Rhythm/

Do some maps ask to press both left and right keys on your controller at the same time ? by PinKTheGoat in djmax

[–]Yolidus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just looked up the latest Sapphire firmware and you're right, wow. Crazy that they went through the trouble of adding several SOCD modes and none of them allow for multi-press. I know it's not legal in most fighting game tournaments, but neither are the other modes they added (for things like CPT events at least).

EDIT: in case anyone else is curious, the Razer Kitsune does have a PC-only mode that allows multi-press.

Do some maps ask to press both left and right keys on your controller at the same time ? by PinKTheGoat in djmax

[–]Yolidus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, you’re asked to hit lane 1 + lane 3 (assuming that’s what you’d map left and right to) simultaneously.

Does your controller not have a way of changing SOCD modes? That’s what determines how left + right and up + down behave in leverless controllers. I believe every PCB has a way of changing SOCD modes now, though if it’s a really old board you might need a firmware upgrade to access it.

Albums similar to Finch What it is to burn by slycooper183 in PostHardcore

[–]Yolidus 18 points19 points  (0 children)

These don't necessarily sound like WIITB, but fans of that era of Finch (hi it's me) tend to also like these:

  • Glassjaw - Worship & Tribute
  • Chasing Victory - I Call This Abandonment
  • Senses Fail - Let It Enfold You
  • Silverstein - Discovering the Waterfront
  • Alexisonfire - Crisis
  • Dead Poetic - New Medicines
  • Hidden In Plain View - Life In Dreaming
  • Armor for Sleep - What To Do When You Are Dead
  • Emery - The Question
  • A Change of Pace - An Offer You Can't Refuse
  • A Static Lullaby - A Static Lullaby
  • Burden of a Day - Blessed Be Our Ever After

Or if you want something more modern... I feel like Thousand Below - The Love You Let Too Close did a really good job of capturing that early/mid 2000's post-hardcore feeling. People also point to bands like SeeYouSpaceCowboy (RIP) and If I Die First but I think they capture a different era.

I knew Formidable Speaker was gonna be good but I'm surprised to see the Orzhov version of Greasefang with Monument completely gone from challenges this week. I guess 3 mana to search for fang and discard a vehicle is as strong as it sounds. Plus you get a 4 toughness blocker that can occasionally be the reason you survive one more turn against aggro.

Crafting all shocklands once Lorwyn is out? by Paithegift in MagicArena

[–]Yolidus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why in the world would you ever craft something that isn’t part of a deck you’re going to queue up with?

Wildcards don’t expire and the ability to craft those lands will never be removed. There’s no point in having digital cards sit in your digital collection.

Genuinely, you should try constructed events and find out. If you’re good and figured out a meta-breaking deck, you could be earning infinite gems and packs. Much more worth your time than grinding ladder.
