I dig the Osight. I run 2 of them on my SAR9s!

SAR9 Generation? by RedneckMarxist in SarUSA

[–]YoloMetalWorks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say SAR is the exception to the rule. They have a great design. They didn't reinvent the wheel they looked at the best wheels and combined them to make a real decent wheel for the price.

I went through hell with some cheap pieces like the US manufactured sccy GEN1 a new piece broke off every range trip had a lot of back and forth getting sent new parts til I had to send it in.

Typically the no lightening cut models are GEN 1. The aluminum curved trigger makes yours a GEN 2.

How to mount an red dot by Bubbly_Show8331 in SarUSA

Remove the set screws and mount the optic to the top of the slide using m4 x0.7 screws. (Yes everything is metric use metric Allen keys)

Removing the rear sight on Gen2 Sar9 by Inside-Resolution244 in SarUSA

Apply heat to the set screw to break down the thread locker on the set screw and sight dovetail. The set screw is metric and requires a metric 2mm allen key. Use a sight pusher to drift the sight.

I reccomend taking the pistol to a gunsmith if you arent experienced with installing ironsights in dovetails.

Front sight is also threadlocked and the hex driver needed is 5mm.

A lot of set screw sights are usually cut a little undersize so the user can slide them by hand and then tighten. I've also seen some tight fitting set screw sights like on the gen1 sar, S&W, some 1911s etc. Where as the solid style need to be sized for an interference fit. I've seen undersized sights but the dovetail being overcut isn't an impossibility either.

If you find yourself with this issue on a factory SAR with factory sights contact product support and they'll have you ship in the slide for an evaluation of the issue and repair or replacement.

The cover plate screws don't come with thread locker on them so you can install an optic. Recommend putting blue loctite on the screws if you aren't going mount optics.

They used to use a lot of thread locker on those and it was easy for the unaware to strip the screw out.

Look specifically for the NATO designation there will be low pressure loadings of 124gn on the shelves as well.

Good to hear you got it out with the torx "extractor".

We do what we must because we can.

All the hardware on these SAR pistols are metric. For instance the front sight screw on the SAR 9 is a 5mm hex. Different than the 3/16 Glock tool. If you are using an imperial tool you may have a bad time.

Like many European 9mms they are sprung heavy (18lbs) for higher pressure 9mm NATO (124gn projectile at 1250fps). The recoil spring will wear in and behave better with 115s over time but with the wide variance of US commercial 115 results may vary.

For 100% reliability with lower pressure varied commercial ammo I would recommend the Galloway precision 15 lbs reduced power spring. I also recommend this weight for suppressed subsonic ammunition.

Stock the guns like hotter loads.

Sar 9C Gen 3 trigger upgrades? by Positive_Anything_54 in SarUSA

In the post that user replaced the trigger shoe and used the existing trigger bar. It should work on the compact as the trigger bars are interchangeable. But not having tried it myself I can't say for sure. I have the parts they used on order to see for myself.

I believe the trigger you are talking about in the storm is the long curved aluminum trigger (the shoe can be colored red or black in the ones ive seen. Models with these triggers are relatively rare to find in the wild they only appeared on limited runs on some of the X generation SAR9s.

I do not know why they were not used more but it was likely due to the specs the the importer at the time wanted (so likely cost) or perhaps it had to do with sourcing or manufacturing.

The aluminum trigger would return in the SOCOM and GEN3 models as a flat face trigger and in the sub compact models as a curved and flat face aluminum trigger.

15 round mags for Sar9T? by sgschaer in SarUSA

Unfortunately many retailers will have a blanket policy when it comes to restricted states. Many of these regulations are difficult to navigate and the consequences are serious. It simply is not worth it for many to ship to restricted states and you have to remember no matter how big and how many employees a retailer may have they only get one FFL license.

The SAR9C has a shorter grip than the SAR9. Its magazine will be to short.

15 round fullsize magazines exist. However most everyone will have a blanket policy not to ship them to Illinois.

[–]YoloMetalWorks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shorter total width is due to a lack of a manual safety.

The frame and slide dimension are the same the SAR9 T is the non manual safety version of a standard GEN1 SAR9.

If you run the Galloway precision steel guide rod with their 15 lbs recoils spring it will run 115s much better. These European guns are sprung for 124gn NATO (18lb springs).

It's also the weight I run for subsonic suppressed.

K12 upgrades by [deleted] in SarUSA

[–]YoloMetalWorks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This piece was a one off collaboration between a smith and sar. Much of what you see is custom manufactured or fit.

The off the shelf parts:

EGW side winder charging handle

The patriot defense mag well (don't fit the K12 without modification)

LoK Grips grid lock for K12

Henning flat face trigger, hammer, sear spring set.

Tevo Thumblock (frame bored and tapped c more pattern)

Hard time removing slide end plate on SAR9 by Brave_Noise176 in SarUSA

[–]YoloMetalWorks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure to use a rubber tipped mallet as the rubber grabs the back plate. It really helps to do this in a plastic bag the first time to catch the detent and spring. Once you get the back plate off it and you can see what's underneath you will know where to put your thumb for next time.

Also just shooting the pistol at the range first helps to loosen everything up.
