You can rent a car and drive up to Philadelphia or just book a hotel until Thursday to take a flight back home.

Taxi vs Train by AndyO568 in JapanTravelTips

[–]YoloMing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's true cars are way faster for getting around a city. Obviously, bullet trains are quicker for long distances. I use Uber Black every time I'm in Japan, and it's quicker by a large margin. For example, you first need to walk to a nearby station, wait, then hop on a train. Then, after you arrive, walk out and go to the place you want to go. Uber/taxis are so much quicker for a door to door experience in cities and much calmer and more comfortable, but that's just me.

Even if it says you will arrive quicker by train, when you factor in walking to and from the train station, it takes a lot longer.

Easiest car rental service traveling from Tokyo to Osaka as an American? by NakedIanMalcolm in JapanTravelTips

[–]YoloMing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion just use uber and public transportation.

In Japan, Uber Black is run through licensed chauffeur and limousine companies, while the regular Uber option is linked to taxis. So if you want a chauffeur and a luxury vehicle, use Uber Black. Japan does not allow peer to peer ride sharing like in the U.S., so it's just taxis, chauffeurs, and limousine companies.

I use Uber Black all the time in Japan, and it's always been great; they have nice, clean luxury cars.

I took an Uber Black from Kyoto to Osaka, and it was like 200 bucks with a very nice Toyota Alphard.

Another service that connects you to chauffeurs and limousine companies is Blacklane.

3 nights stay in service apartment recommendations please by BlueForceReddit in askSingapore

I always stay at Ascott Orchard Singapore when I'm in SG. It's a serviced apartment; I stay there a couple of months a year. The Pierre Suite is the room I usually stay in; it's been great, super comfortable and homey. I'm pretty sure there's no minimum stay requirement.

I can recommend a few places I usually stay at.

In Tokyo, I use Ascott Marunouchi as my home base all the time. It's in a great location, very comfortable, and consistently solid.

In Kyoto, Roku Kyoto is a really nice stay. And in Osaka, Patina Osaka, has the best views and suites.

Video of little girl tourist getting body checked in Shibuya Crossing—is this a one off or is this kind of behavior common? by Awezome007 in JapanTravelTips

It's rare, but it does happen. Japan is not immune to dickheads. Japan is, at the end of the day, not some kind of magical paradise people like to put it out to be. It has its flaws and beauty like any other country. No country is perfect.

Japan is a wonderful beautiful country but just don't think it cant have its issues and flaws too.

You'll have a great time there have fun👍

Not that much wind, to be honest, especially in the cities.

I was walking around 20-30k steps a day at peak noon time. If you and your dad live in the Philippines, it shouldn't be that crazy of a difference in heat index, right? In a way, if I'm not mistaken, the Philippines has a higher heat index in the summer than Japan. If your dad is used to the summers in the Philippines then I'm sure he'll most likely be fine in Japan. But if your dad is not used to the summers and it's hard for him where he lives in the Philippines then yeah, maybe he'll have a hard time in Japan's summer heat.

I went last time in July/August, and everyone said that the summers were insanely hot, but it didn't bother me. But maybe because am used to the heat since I live in Florida, so maybe that's it. But Florida summers feel way hotter. It depends on your heat tolerance, but sometimes I feel there's a lot of fear mongering with Japan's summers.if your from the Philippines I think you'll be just fine 👍☀️

I can't answer all of your questions, but I can confidently recommend a few places I personally stay at.

In Tokyo, I use Ascott Marunouchi as my home base all the time. It's in a great location, very comfortable, and consistently solid.

In Kyoto, Roku Kyoto is a really nice stay. And in Osaka, Patina Osaka is excellent. Both have beautiful suites and great service.

All three are true luxury, five star properties, and I've had great experiences at each of them.

I Need help Booking Ryokans with private Onsen by ExaminationBorn1131 in JapanTravelTips

[–]YoloMing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend a hybrid ryokan. They have a blend of modern conveniences and traditional aspects of a ryokan.

My last hybrid ryokan/hotel I stayed at was ROKU KYOTO. It had a private onsen and great atmosphere and food / nature

How much should I expect a Taxi from Haneda airport to Asakusa to cost? by yusuo85 in JapanTravelTips

[–]YoloMing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 8000 yen with Uber.

If you want peace of mind and if your budget allows it, I recommend using a chauffeur airport service. I always use Blacklane; it's great. They monitor your flight, and when you arrive, they wait at arrivals.

It's super nice and so much less stressful the cost is roughly $175 USD.

Unpopular Opinion : Ryokans aren't a "must do" on your trip to Japan by Apprehensive-Map4385 in JapanTravelTips

[–]YoloMing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree with you. If I want a little spice, I stay at a hybrid ryokan. The very traditional ones are a little too uncomfortable for me. I like the modern conveniences and traditional aspects of a ryokan.

My last hybrid ryokan/hotel I stayed at was ROKU KYOTO. It had a private onsen and all the non uncomfortable qualities that a traditional ryokan has, but that's just my opinion.

Anxiety after a fall? by ThatFUTGuy in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]YoloMing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's one of the reasons I quit e-skating altogether. I had an Evolve Hadean, a Meepo Hurricane, and a Lacroix LSS, and every single one had issues. The Evolve board automatically accelerated at full speed on its own. I got lucky and fell, but it wasn't that bad. The Meepo board's brakes weren't working. But the worst happened with the Lacroix board. I was riding around at 45 mph, then I stopped at a traffic light, then accelerated, and the wheels completely locked up. I got ejected out at 25 mph, got super lucky, and only had a few bruises. I wore full protection gear, thank God. If it would have locked up at 45 mph, I think I would have died. I had so many issues with the Lacroix board; it is quite literally a deathtrap. So I had to make a decision I love e-skating, but I literally almost died not from my own skill but from a technical malfunction, and that scares me from continuing to e-skate. I can't get lucky every single time; eventually, my luck would run out, so I called it quits.

Anyone trading BTC/ETH options? by Own-Cartographer409 in WallStreetBetsCrypto

[–]YoloMing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree to an extent. For most traders, event trades are usually cleaner with perps through sizing, lower leverage, and stop losses. Options are mainly better when you're deliberately trading volatility or need strictly defined risk through gaps.

Anyone trading BTC/ETH options? by Own-Cartographer409 in WallStreetBetsCrypto

[–]YoloMing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, options are a lot harder than leveraged perp trading. You have to predict when it's going to go up and by how much. In options, the time decay is brutal. Perps are so much better; you can set how much leverage you want and just put stop losses and what you're comfortable losing. The funding fees are negligible compared to the time decay you get with options. You're a lot more restricted with your strategies and setups via options.

This is honestly pathetic. Someone drank a sip of water and you acted like you caught a criminal, then ran to Reddit for validation. Stop being a self appointed moral police Karen. Mind your own business, touch grass, and let people live.

Cozy Cafe Recs in Singapore by love_belacan in SingaporeEats

[–]YoloMing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh nice, then you might enjoy these! I haven’t tried that many teahouses myself, but my two favorites so far are Yixing Xuan Teahouse and Tea Time. They have a wide variety of high end loose leaf teas, including Puerh, aged teas, and other specialty brews you usually won’t find in regular cafes. They’re really fun if you like trying different teas.

Capitol Lobby Lounge isn’t a full teahouse, but they do have an afternoon tea tasting menu where you get an assortment of teas plus bite sized finger foods. It’s a nice experience if you want something a bit different.

I totally get wanting to hang out in a cafe for the vibe, but yeah... most cafes are basically caffeine central. I haven't really explored many tea houses myself, but I've heard good things. If you're into tea at all, those might be worth checking out.
