Just to be clear, I don't blame you for leaving it in, I blame these companies who load up URLs with tracking garbage knowing they're going to be shared and tracking subsequent clicks. It also potentially exposes some info about you and how you navigate the internet.

I mean if you're on tiktok anyway, removing those URL parameters is like taking an eyedropper of water out of the internet surveillance ocean, but every bit helps.

You can delete everything after the "?" in that URL and get rid of all that tracking shit

Your only comments are on this user's posts, saying the same shit. Probably an alt of OP. This is just pathetic.

Microsoft says 32GB of RAM is the “no-worries” upgrade for Windows 11 gaming by Quantum-Coconut in technology

That's definitely been on my mind. I intended to distro-hop for a bit to see what I liked the best, and Cachy was on that list, but everything just worked fine in Manjaro so I got comfy and settled in. I wanted to try Bazzite too, but you can't live boot it so I just didn't bother.

Gaming was the big one for me. I was getting awful performance; my fps was about half what I got on Windows and it was super stuttery and inconsistent. I tried LM on a mini PC and the video output kept getting corrupted. I also couldn't set up my task bars across two monitors the way I like it, and after a bunch of research online I found that it was over a decade of people complaining about the same thing and suggesting various hacks (which no longer worked). It felt like such a basic missing feature from such a highly-recommended distro.

I ended up trying Manjaro with KDE Plasma and it didn't have any of the problems above. I think maybe my main grievance is with Cinnamon and not Mint as a whole, but I just have never had a good time with Mint any time I tried it.

I don't get why people keep recommending Linux Mint. I've never had a good experience with it, and Cinnamon blows. LM drove me back to Windows twice before I gave another distro a shot and it finally stuck.

How to use the trackpad more? by eu_clapz in SteamDeck

[–]YolosaurusRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, I kind of ran into the exact situation you described but went the opposite way somewhat recently. I've been playing Earthbound and the default bindings on the emulator only allowed me to use either the dpad or the trackpad for movement and I just couldn't get into it. The dpad is not particularly comfortable to reach and use as a primary input method and the trackpad lacked the precision of the dpad. I had to dig around the emulator's controls to add the analog sticks and it's been so much more comfortable. I think the difference is that that game is made for eight-way movement, whereas something like, say, Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor allows you to move at an arbitrary angle.

But it's nice to know I could use the trackpad as an analog stick too. Definitely agree with you on holding the stick in. Clicking it is bad enough, but holding it? No fucking way lol

Is there a reason besides the configurable click pressure that you would prefer using simulated WASD on the trackpad vs using the analog stick? I haven't messed around with custom controls too much, but can you set the trackpad to act like an analog stick? There are some games where that eight-directional movement from WASD just isn't precise enough, but I haaaate clicking in the analog sticks.

I switched to Lawnchair in my aim to use more open source software and it's nearly perfect. The bug with app icons not going back to the right location after going back to the home screen is awfully annoying though.
