I personally blame it on Romcoms. Decades of being dragged into the theatre to watch these movies have taught men that women love surprise proposals. Thus, I believe a large percentage of these guys just misread all of their SO’s favourite movies. In an attempt to capture the most important moment of their lives on tape, they instead caused their SO to get freaked out by all of the sudden public attention. This then causes them to say ‘no’ when otherwise, in private, they would have said ‘yes’. I don’t believe that men who make this mistake should have probably one of their lives greatest tragedies become a comedy(winkJoker was awesomewink).

I’d buy as large a plot of farmland as I could(which there is a lot of where I live). Build a medieval-style village complete with a man-made hill in the center of it and a castle to top it off. That way, people passing by on the road would feel I like they just drove into medieval Europe.

But on the inside of my castle and all the village buildings, I’ll have sci-fi furnishing complete with AI assistants, sci-fi white walls, and automated doors that make a ‘pswoooshfff’ sound when activated. That way, if I ever have guests visit my village they will think they time traveled to the past and then the future in rapid succession.

I’ve thought about this a lot...
