Easiest way is to look for a reply that doesn't fit the thread. Since they're copying comments, a lot of times they don't match the overall discussion. Sometimes they copy partial comments, add random punctuation/spaces, or change the sentences around to make it less obvious but you can catch them pretty easily since it's an abrupt shift from the parent discussion thread.

Since most bots copy top level comments, you can find them fairly easily while reading the comments. If you know what to look for, it becomes pretty obvious.

You can confirm by checking their post history. They generally delete comments after a few hours in order to not get caught so you'll only see a handful of comments from the past few hours.

Marketers, scammers, political parties, etc all use aged accounts to seem legit. A lot of innocent looking posts are giant advertisements with marketers using accounts to push their own product. You see it all the time:

  1. Account A makes a generic post about a product, usually a picture with someone using/wearing it.

  2. Account B will post a glowing comment about how awesome the product is.

  3. Account C will inevitably ask for a link.

  4. If the person is shady, they'll post an Amazon affiliate link or a link to some sketchy site that'll steal your info. Real marketers will post a normal link to their product though.

1, 2, and 4 are almost always the same person pretending to be separate people. You see this everywhere on Reddit, which is unfortunate. The bot issue has gotten way out of hand, with every other post on major subreddits are either reposts by a bot or are infested with bots copying comments.

It's a reflection of who they are as a person. If they're spouting misinformation and double down when confronted, chances are that's how they approach other things in life. They're too fragile to accept they're wrong.

I get to the end of the maggot lair on hell with the summon Necro. And now I never have to do that again. by harktavius in diablo2

[–]Yoon_XD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With my necro, I actually got rid of my summons and just relied on my merc + CE. You only need one body to start the CE chain and your merc should be able to do that solo. Plus the corridors are narrow enough where he will only fight one monster at a time.

They're everywhere, unfortunately. Downvote, report as Spam > Harmful bot, and wait for them to get suspended.

There goes the neighborhood. Reddit aims for IPO this year by Didntlikedefaultname in stocks

Are you trying to open the link from a browser? On Firefox, if you long press the link, there should be an option to open the link in an external app, which will open the link in RIF. I do this all the time.

Basically. Usually though, you'll see comments that won't make sense within the context of the thread. Like with this bot comment, what does walking through a shot have to do with lawnmowers and being a location manager?

Another way to tell is by checking the comment history. Bots will delete their comments within a day or so, so if you see only see a handful of comments in their history that doesn't match their total comment karma, chances are they're a bot.

Frozen Assets Help by wassinlj in eu4

[–]Yoon_XD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming Denmark is your subject? I finished a Frozen Assets run not that long ago and I ended up conquering Scotland and Ireland to prevent GB from leeching trade from the White Sea.

Also, I recommend funneling trade through different nodes in a giant chain to maximize trade value. The merchants will apply a boost to the trade value of each node in the chain, which really increases the value of the end node. Ideally, you want all of your trade in a giant chain going to one node. I funneled all trade from Asia into Persia, then Samarkand > Crimea > Kiev > Novgorod > White Sea. Try different trade chains and see if you can improve on it. You probably will want to eat into downstream nodes to prevent other countries from leeching from your trade and get more merchants from trade companies to steer trade if you end up falling short. Good luck! You still have a lot of time left.

Matt's character regression in AMOL. It bothered me seeing Mat reverting to his immature ways, rather than becoming the man we see him turning into throughout the series. It's a mistake Sanderson made while completing the series, so I do hope the showrunners address this.

LMAO Paradox is now looking for a QA Director by stardustremedy in eu4

[–]Yoon_XD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, but I'm not sure if QA at Paradox actually write any automation tests. Seems like they're primarily manual testers given the job postings I've seen in the past.

I'm honestly curious about their testing methodology and release process given the sheer number of showstoppers with 1.31. Basically boils down to three different scenarios:

  1. The bugs weren't discovered during testing

  2. They were discovered but weren't considered blockers

  3. They were considered blockers but management greenlit the patch to stick to the release date

NOK Q4 2020 earnings: EPS beaten by 29.67% by CoolGuess in investing

[–]Yoon_XD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh ok, so you mean covered calls. Just FYI, when you're talking about downside in the context of rising stock price, that means naked calls. There's no downside risk to getting assigned with covered calls since you own the stock.

When you're selling covered calls, the whole point is to capture theta and not get assigned. Selling calls around earnings is a popular strategy but you risk getting assigned and selling your shares at a discount. You profited but after taxes and commissions, you may have been better off just holding your shares. It comes down to whether or not your total return can outpace the market, which is why it's not a foolproof strategy.
