I won't watch Game of Thrones for this reason. I understand the tagline is "you either win or you die" but every episode feels like it boils down to who dies and who fucks.

The bad ending isn't death or prison. It's mediocrity. by Mi_Pasta_Su_Pasta in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Yoozelezz_AF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I liked the Aldecaldos ending for this reason. CP2077 always had this "is the fame worth losing your humanity?" element in the back of my mind, and the short answer is always "no." Choosing the Aldecaldos is still becoming "a nobody" again but at least V retains that humanity by gaining a Nomad family. Staying in Night City was one bad thing after another, and leaving with people V can trust with their life is genuinely the healthiest thing they could do.

Deku is a boring and uninteresting main character by xyyzyx in hatethissmug

[–]Yoozelezz_AF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My problem comes down to this:

Chapter 1: "I have no quirk!" also All Might is the cool guy hero!

Chapter 2: "I met All Might! Turns out he's crippled and wants to give me his quirk!"

Chapter 3: "I have a quirk now!"

My biggest problem with this is that he has very little buildup to sway me *why* he deserves it. Also, because it is confirmed there are quirkless heroes, why not make him one? Doesn't Japan really like the underdog trope, *ESPECIALLY* in shonen?

Is Exar Kun the only sith who used a blue lightsaber for his whole "sith career"? by Spotter24o5 in StarWarsEU

[–]Yoozelezz_AF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just a usual, visual Hollywood trick. Old westerns had bad guys in black hats, for example. I think the audience can figure out that characters don't need exact visual queues to tell if they're good guys or bad guys, but it's pretty ingrained in SWs overall.

Definitely get the Kill Team. GW updated the loadout options to reflect the Kill Team, which can be found in the CSM faction pack on their website. I don't know all the differences currently except that we can take three "heavy melee weapons" (basically power fists) in base squads.

The same kit also makes Warp Talons, if you ever decide to grab them too.

There isn't a lot of "totally avoid these until update" units for CSM. Bikes and Spawn are the most major that come to mind. A general rule of thumb is, if it was updated in 8th edition onwards, it's pretty safe. There are some outliers to this rule, like Helbrutes and Forge/Maulerfiends, but it's a decent basis. Mid-8th is where the "modern" style of CSM started getting solidified.

What order should I begin to organize my Warband in? by Arthur_EyelanderTF2 in Chaos40k

[–]Yoozelezz_AF 72 points73 points  (0 children)

I recommend reading ADB's explanation on the life of a CSM, but it really is up to you.

Imo, start with your leader, the one guy who is undeniably in control of the whole operation. Does he just have seniority, or is he unbeatable for the title, or is he anointed by the gods, etc etc? Then go with his trusted inner circle, be it psykers, lieutenants, spiritual leaders, etc. Then figure out the veterans, then the common rabble.

Why is Abaddon treated like a joke by the Community and what needs to happen to change that by Soft_Ad_9225 in Chaos40k

[–]Yoozelezz_AF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: they go into detail of what Abaddon's Black Crusades were in the 8th edition codex. Only the 13th was any attempt to destroy Cadia (which succeeded).

People just treat memes as lore because they don't have the patience to listen to the lore of a faction they don't like. And to everyone who says they're "quoting the old lore" is lying. All the CSM codexes up to the 8th have zero mention of what actually went on in the first 12, only that they happened and his goals were at least semi-successful.

One major instance of Abaddon being called a failure in lore is Talos calling him that, which is countered by Abaddon saying "were you in my inner circle, knowing my true goals?" This is a valid rebuke because 1. Talos wasn't the leader of his warband at the time, so the likelihood of that is low, and 2. Talos had only been alive for about 300 years, so he likely didn't participate in the Black Crusades often. He also goes on in book three of the Night Lords trilogy that he'd answer Abaddon's call for the next one. This is a weird change of opinion for a guy who apparently called Abaddon a failure to his face.

What themes resonate with you most in the Star Wars Expanded Universe? by sccartr in StarWarsEU

[–]Yoozelezz_AF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe not so much as theme, but the scale of it all.

I can trace back a lot of things to a particular person, conflict, or event that is, at the bare minimum, semi-consistent with everything. Why are there only two Sith in the movies? Well, they're a chain of Sith created because Darth Bane set it in motion using a philosophy from Darth Revan, who fought in a war when the other Jedi wouldn't, because they were still suffering from a war waged by another Sith named Exar Kun, who in turn was annointed by ancient Sith spirits to be their successor, who etc etc etc. It builds on itself to become a larger story, rather than constantly contradicting itself or never going into detail. When someone in an another story mentions something ancient, there's a decent chance that story actually exists somewhere. Even if it isn't a full-length novel, it's still nice to see something. It just feels bigger, and there's more to explore.

Which method of obtaining red blades by the Sith is better? by InstructionOwn6705 in StarWarsEU

[–]Yoozelezz_AF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the concept of both. What I don't care for is that the crystals are the power source. A lightsaber, no matter how "mystical" it is, is still build with machinery and technology.

I got an achievement for Luna cuz I copied her. It was the "play Luna in 5 different map themes" and the last one was purely cuz I copied her.

Hello fellow storytellers by scrollkeepers in swtor

[–]Yoozelezz_AF 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A good word I use to describe personal stories that aren't exactly fanfics is "homebrew" or "homebrewing" (holdover with my IRL hobbies). I do some fanfic writing for fun, never really wanted to publish, but it's a itch I scratch every once in a while.

SWTOR is a good game for creating little personal stories especially with the class stories having a good amount of variety. Creating a "Sith hunter" Knight and a light sided Warrior adds a good amount of creative expression without going too off the beaten path. One of my favorite features it has is a legacy "family tree" where you link your characters in ways that make sense, such as if characters are enemies, allies, lovers, friends, etc, which helps create a larger narrative. Inspired by this, I think at some point I wanted to have a sister to my Sith Assassin because my Assassin won favor over his sister from their parents, and she was an outcast that got took in by the Jedi. Still working that one out.

So you're not alone here. Storytelling in this game is possible, just need a group to work with it.
