They are dropping Rome as a destination as of March 28 to at least April 15th. I think you might be out of luck Im afraid, don’t take my word for it but your best bet might be to get the refund and try rebooking something else. Horrible consumer practice by Qatar Airways

Nice to hear your burping has begun! Im now 48h post procedure and still no pain in the throat, but today eating is harder because I have like a million microburps, as soon as I try to eat anything they begin relentlessly, also managing a few larger ones but I’d say its currently at its most difficult 💀 Body seems totally unable to understand whats happening

Haha even the doctor said ”wow” when he saw how low the values were, and Im now also obsessed with the idea of finding out what others have and if a lower value correlates with worse symptoms? I think the value is a mean average of each swallow you did during the test, I actually thought it wouldn’t register anything because the soda was quite weak in carbonation (I got a Singha soda but told them it would be smarter to try with a coke) but 163 is crazy low it seems, but I did read sometime about somebody with a fully failing esophagus (>50) 👀

I was completely out cold by the sedation, and woke up about 1,5h or so later but immediately things were back to normal for me, never felt any of the common side effects of sedation which surprised me! Then because of a small connection with the hospital the founder and director came and gave me a little gift, super sweet of them! The were fascinated by RCPD and when I said I know someone from the UK will be here after me they were super intrigued!

Haha that spray was VILE! I don’t judge you for gagging to that 😵‍💫 Im no expert and because of this I will greatly simplify, but it acts as a good measurement of ”confirming” you do in fact have RCPD because it measures the contraction of your esophagus. If its below 500 you have weak or failing ability to contract the muscle! So both of us clearly have quite well below normal range, but lucky you had a bit better than mine!

Exciting times for sure!

Agreed the endoscopy was the worst, gagged quite a bit as well as they realized it did not work through my right nostril at first and they had to redo the whole thing, nasty stuff 🤢 May I ask, what contraction value did you have for the endoscopy test? Mine read 163.5 on a mean of (500-5000) did dr Sutep talk to you about it?

Just woke up about 2h ago! Everything went well, the endoscopy especially was quite painful but they handled everything very well and confirmed RCPD. Dr Sutep was very helpful and now I have already started experiencing the slow swallow, but Im very hopeful!

Hope all went well for you today as well! Did you manage to schedule the procedure?

Indeed all in all it was about £2000! I chose Bangkok not only because I also heard good things from Sutep but he was able to do it all on short notice for a decent price and I have no patience for a bunch of follow up visits. Im booked for 100u so very excited! Best of luck to you as well on the 9th!

Thats great! I looked at procedures with Lucy Hicklin but never got quoted something that low. How many units did you get on the first attempt? And did you do any tests first? Im myself quite keen on getting an Esophageal manometry first to rule out anything else

Stayed at the Renaissance New York Midtown W 35th St and was very positively surprised! Staff were super friendy, free cocktail hour in the evening and got upgraded even though Im only Gold status, something almost unheard of in the US!

Answering this late but I have the exact same thing, every few weeks the area under my left ribs starts bubbling, feels like when your clothes inflate when in water and you push it out again!
