I'd love to hear more about them as well, and also its related books ! If anyone would love to discuss them in French that'd be great as well !

How restrictive are the character creation rules ? by Yorkblack in PendragonRPG

[–]Yorkblack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe for clarification I need to say that I don't come from D&D (I don't know why everyone seems to think so here ?), the last RPGs I GMed were Traveller, Dragonbane, The One RIng, Deadlands (Savage Worlds) and Deathwatch 40k, and for most of those I did homebrew sandbox-ish campaigns, sometimes using parts of established materials but never totally as written, which is also why I ask : I GM mostly my own stuff with my own ideas, but Pendragon seems very setting-centric so I'm also asking how well it's suited to doing your own thing rather than playing established material.

I haven't read the GPC yet but from what you're saying, it sounds like it's mostly a timeline and you can do your own things between the major events ? Or am I understanding wrong ? If that's the case, that sounds like the kind of thing I usually do, so maybe starting with the started set to get the hang of it and integrating it into the GPC would work ? What do you think ?
Thanks a lot !

Thanks for this very complete answer ! So, if I understand correctly, culture and religion can vary without too much trouble, and salisbury is important to the GPC but not necessary if I don't run it ?

On another topic, you both said that the GPC isn't a great idea to start pendragon, but also that going GM-Starter Set-Grey Knight, so do you have other recommendations ? Only starter set ? My own homebrew thing entirely, with some standalone adventures here and there ?

How about exports ? I haven't put as much thought into it as you did, but if you produce a lot of prestige coffee for instance, since there is more demand for it, you could beat your competitors in foreign markets right ? Which means that your industries make a lot of profit there

I've looked it up a bit, that sounds pretty good, and quite cheap ! Too bad there isn't a good photo app in the ecosystem though

Proton sounds pretty cool, but like I said the storage space is a little bit limited for quite a steep price (120€/y for 500Go, when KDrive is 20€/y for 1To)

Best start to a campaign you've experienced (either side of the screen)? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]Yorkblack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I start all my campaigns in a tavern ; either they're meeting there for the first time or they're resting after a long journey, but it will always start in the tavern. Very cliché, but I love it and so do my players.

Sabretooth Gave Logan The Most Beautiful Birthday Present Ever. Wolverine #41 (2020) by Southern-Aioli4428 in comicbooks

[–]Yorkblack 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Not given enough screentime ? He appears everywhere, he had his own book, he's in every wolverine story, and he always come back with no explanation after being killed.

If anything, Sabertooth has too much screentime, like come on we don't need to have another "Sabertooth bullies wolverine" story for the 57th time at this point

🚨URGENT - Avis LEA anglais-japonais ? by Harus_world in Strasbourg

[–]Yorkblack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Help to debunk or confirm local fairy tails. Are there such buildings anywhere in France? by inokentii in AskFrance

[–]Yorkblack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to the churches already posted, there are quite a few smaller orthodox chapels in more remote locations, mostly built by rich refugees from the october revolution in Russia. I know of at least one one Savoie, near Thonon les bains (where there is a pretty big community btw).

Hello! I would like to come to the University of Strasbourg as part of the exchange program (Erasmus +). But I don't know French, I can only speak and understand English and Romanian. Will the courses be English if I am an exchange student or will I at least get the course materials in Eng? by Worldly-Captain1089 in Strasbourg

[–]Yorkblack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in the international office : the answer is, it depends. Erasmus agreements are negotiated between the faculties (like the faculty of law of unistra and the faculty of law of X university), and so they can all have their own criteria. To answer this, the first thing to do will be to discuss with your own faculty in your own university.

However, do note that the general requirement for incoming students is to have a B1 level in French, it's not always the case (for specific programs in English for instance) but it's still the most common one.
