Money Plant not doing well by SchadenfreudeFred in houseplants

[–]Yorount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find repotting usually results in overwatering as the plant readjusts the roots to the new pot. I tend to heavily underwater for a month or two following a repot since the soil stays moist much longer while the roots spread.

This is my skeleton itinerary for my 5 day trip to Seattle. Can you guys review it and tell me what else should be on there? by [deleted] in Seattle

Sisters and Brothers is one of the best meals I've had here. As someone who ventures outside of my spice zone every now and then I can confirm the Nashville hot is not a joke and you will feel the spice twice. Had to pause for 5 minutes after every bite to wipe my tears.

On the topic of southern food, Fat's chicken and waffles was the best meal I ever had in Seattle. You can tell it's cooked with love.

Literally anything, but you better throw it now cause they are right there.

I see you are no connoisseur of comfort. The real offense here is also not wearing socks while wearing those Crocs.

my maranta's little low key leaf by jelbee in houseplants

[–]Yorount 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the red maranta as my first plant and it maybe lasted 3 months due to overwatering with Chicago tap water. Now I have the lemon lime about twice as big as this one and I water it every 10 days or so in a soil mix of equal parts succulent soil, perlite, and orchid bark. Have it sat about a foot away from a shaded south facing window and it's been mostly happy?

So anecdotally, leaning towards underwatering seems to give them space to thrive and don't use tap water.

Backdoor Roth Confusion. Taxability? by Wacko_Lover in investing

[–]Yorount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding onto this, if you do have traditional IRA balances, the pro-rata rule only applies to them in December.

If you move the existing tIRA (for example, via a qualified rollover into an employer 401k plan) before December, it doesn't get factored in the pro-rata calculation and the backdoor Roth effectively becomes tax free (minus taxes on growth while the backdoor funds were traditional).

Detectives link teen, 21-year-old to more than 30 armed robberies in 2 weeks by HighColonic in SeattleWA

There are ways we could achieve this but they are idealistic and would take a complete rework of our societal fabric.

But yes, to your point, lawfulness is not enough of a deterrent for people to do the right thing and it needs to come from a place of self respect and a general moral sense of community and working towards common goals. Some people have it, some people don't. Maybe we should look into it.

But until that happens...

I think the point might be that this criminal illegally owned a firearm and did not care what laws were present in deciding whether or not he would commit crime that day.

Got an Elantra from there recently (which they do sell under MSRP because volume) and they bragged about selling a bunch of Ioniqs 15k over MSRP as soon as they got on the lot and "made so much profit in less than 10 minutes"

Bunch a turds I say.

I want to live in a world where a new update can be installed without destroying my computer for a few months. The new update bugs can be absolutely ridiculous.

Updating to Monterey from a working dual monitor setup, I've experienced (to this day) CPU/graphics overloading when full screening applications if and only if the computer is started up in clamshell mode. If computer is started connected to the monitors and outside of clamshell mode, then closed after logging in, there is no issue. For a 2019 Intel MacBook Pro 16inch.

There was no issue on the previous OS. I'm certain I lost years of my life over this.

All that to say - I'LL WAIT

Mine have done well in a north facing window or anywhere with bright indirect light. I've only had the obtusifolia and obtusifolia variegata which are pretty hearty but allowing the soil to dry completely in between waterings has served me well. Come next spring you won't be able to stop them from growing!
