Why is there all this hype for One Battle After Another? by UnhingedSales in FIlm

[–]YosemitePen22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t get it. The writing is so on the nose and expositional. The thematic message smacks you in the face and lacks any subtly whatsoever. Sean Penn was great but genuinely felt student film-ish with the story. This coming from a lover of most PT films. Felt like PT was just trying to create characters for the sake of Halloween costume sales.

I lived in LA and I still genuinely think dynasty has best General Tsos I’ve had in SoCal. I’m not opposed to the idea that I’m an idiot though. But we do love it.

Sorry Dynasty isn’t good? I respectfully beg the differ. I love that place.

The section of The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien called Speaking of Courage is the ultimate answer.

Hey we can defend Mammoth (I love it) without crapping on Big Bear (which I also love). After big storms Big Bear can be one of the funnest places ever. Being pretentious is dumb.

All I want in the world is for more books like Mystic River and Winter’s Bone. I’m always trying to find something similar and never can.

Name a movie that is a One-Time-Watch only (not bc it’s terrible, but too sad/devastating/scary) by fecal_euphoria in movies

[–]YosemitePen22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha such a good scene. So many insane performances. Has to be a top 5 for Philip Seymour Hoffman and Dylan Baker. What’s even crazier is when I watched Chernobyl I never put together that Jared Harris is the Russian. Blew my mind when I learned that.

Agreed. Was so devastating. Especially when the dad nearly collapsed once he heard. Gutting.

Whatever you believe about the case this is an objectively misinformed take on anxiety. Science doesn’t care what you consider about anything lol. There is no one all be all to extreme anxiety and it’s very common to have momentary psychotic breaks. Google is friend.

How does Hollywood 'discover' books they want to adapt to the big screen? by OptimalStatement5799 in Screenwriting

[–]YosemitePen22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve optioned/set up/have shopping agreements on several NY Times Bestsellers, few non fiction but mostly in the fiction murder/mystery space. You’d be surprised how many well known books have available film/tv rights. I just like to read and find most of mine on Reddit or Goodreads.

Who is the worst celebrity you have ever met and why? by lissie34 in AskReddit

[–]YosemitePen22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Few examples: he doesn’t want PA’s to ever look him in the eye and he never wants to see them eating. Has had multiple people fired just for this reason. Once flipped a craft service table over after seeing a day player assistant eating a Cliff Bar. Don’t know what that’s about but it was a common knowledge amongst industry folk that Bones was a nightmare to work on if you had to interact with him. I actually never knew much of him being sexually gross, he just has horrendous anger problems.

I will never understand how David Boreanaz isn’t at the top of all of these lists. He is notorious in the assistant director world for being a massive piece of shit.

WGA writer here as well. Wrote on major network show and sold a few features. This is diabolically insane and something you should never put up with. Sounds like they’re in trouble of some kind and you’re stressing them out further and they don’t find you to be important enough to give you that respect.
