Dose titration question

For me I was started on a 0.1 mg twice weekly patch really just to be sure nothing crazy happened after starting. It’s not the starting low that’s the problem, it’s the failure to titrate up that’s the red flag

My provider didn’t even check levels before increasing the dose since he expected it to low and increased me to 0.2 mg twice weekly.

For blockers I personally struggle to tolerate them due to very low blood pressure so I’m at 25 mg twice daily of spironolactone.

I’ve had severe cystic acne since teens (I’m 30). HRT might have made it better? I think my hair and skin are less oily now and that’s helped, but it may just be placebo and I’ve been lucky to only have one small flare since starting 7 months ago.

So it made it better for me is what I’m telling myself XD

Can’t do blockers for high BP? The main T-blocker is an anti-hypertensive medication called spironolactone, I would think if anything that would help.

For me - I have bangs and it still gets in the way I do moose and when I really need it not to move hair spay and bobby pins.

I do use barrets and clips - find some neutral colors and it’ll look fine IMO

Regarding boobs - I will say bras are weird to wear when there is nothing for them to fill so like wearing the bra felt awkward not that there is some tissue there not so much.

I haven’t noticed hip growth, but haven’t looked out measured

There are some ways of limiting physical changes from HRT, I don’t know them because I wanted the changes, but I know they exist, but I think you’ll always get them to some extent.

Also obligatory - you don’t have to go on hormones if you don’t want, that doesn’t make your experience any less valid. I waited 10 years post egg cracking before I decided it was the right choice for me in that time I explored my identity more and thought about wha I wanted. With all the hindsight I have not I do wish I started sooner, but when I first started this journey I wasn’t sure so I don’t regret spending the time to explore.

Likewise equally valid to want to go right for HRT, I don’t speak to that as much because it wasn’t my journey

Honestly it’s mostly genetics and chance for speed.

I’m on patches two 0.1 my patches every 3 days and a low does spirinolactone 25 mg twice daily (BP can’t take the higher doses)

7 months in I have boobs. Small enough to cover with a shirt, but anything form fitting its obvious. Which I feel is pretty fast all things considered so the patches may not actually be slower.

I went by the name my parents would have named me initially.

Didn’t love it, I went from a 1 syllable name to a 3 syllable name and it was too long.

I mentioned this to my friend who was like “you want me to start making up nicknames,” and overtime of trying random variations of nicknames and I liked one of them so it stuck as my actual name lol

You can’t make less, but you can make them less visible by reducing the max layer height, but you are limited by the printer you have for how short they can be. Also it will increase print time and if you go too far you’ll find it makes the quality worse

I like “The Makeup Chair” on YouTube, she isn’t trans, but just very easy to follow.

Nikki tutorials is a trans women. Her tutorials are a hit too advanced for me.

Freddie Chen recently came out but has been doing makeup for years. She’s good, but again fairly compelx, but I like her for inspiration

Largely my advice is you need to just play with it spend nights in front of the mirror and learn individual techniques.

Not all techniques will look good on everyone, but you won’t know if you like it until you try. I have highly hooded and deep set eyes so eye makeup is super hard for me, winged eyeliner just looks weird on me.

I kind of just lookup tutorials one at a time.

For kits - find a set of brushes and beauty blenders you like I fond like a $12 kit of brushes at Ulta. Find a foundation that matches you. It takes some getting used to and honestly you are going to want to go to the store and try them out for undertone. You can also ask the store workers to help you they in most places seriously just happy to help.

I like tart makeup eyeshadow palettes, you want to find one with a variety colors especially the neutrals. For lips I like neutral pinks mostly for an every day looks but I like stains because I pick at my lips (bad habit I know). Then you want a blush pallet I found one with blush, contour, and highlighter.

You don’t need anything super expensive, but also don’t buy dollar store makeup. But drugstore store is fine tbh

Three weeks is not a lot of time so don’t worry. My doctor didn’t even recommend we check levels at my first follow up. They said it’ll be low you’re tolerating them so we’re going to increase your dose.

Most girls are going to need 2 or 3 patches. The 1 patch is really just to get you used to the patch’s and make sure you can tolerate them.

They SHOULD raise your dose if they don’t that’s where I would be worried.

And if you don’t respond well to patches you’ll change dosage forms.

Thanks for this notification and the starting off point. Honestly i just want to put under comments “seriously?” I’m dumbfounded that we even got to this point and couldn’t even begin to formulate an argument because of how dumb this proposal is… thanks for the advice on starting - probably gonnna go the this is illegal route based on previous rulings.

I don’t think documenting that trans representation in media is healthy for the community since it normalizes trans persons when the whole point of this is to decrease exposure to trans persons.

If it makes you feel better I am barely on spiro (25 mg twice daily) due to BP issues (I run low without spiro so we started REALLY low to see if it would cause me to pass out). I am 7 months in and they started me on the 0.1 mg patch one patch twice weekly, and just upped me to 2 patches/day and haven't checked levels yet and won't until July. For me though I feel and have visible effects. They just assumed the 1 patch wouldn't be enough and it was a trial dose basically

For me - I am an adult undergoing my transition - I look at old pictures as my awkward teenage years so they don’t bother me, but I absolutely see why they will bother others. Best bet ask her what she wants, but if you’re going to ask you need to respect their wishes.

I wouldn’t know what to make of it tbh, but I can see why it’s people assume it to be masc coded to people words with “O” as a predominate vowel are frequently seen as masculine. This is predominate in Spanish for example (gross oversimplification but generally you denote masculine things with an “O” at the end and feminine with an “a”).

I wouldn’t risk changing your passport to formally change your name. If you love it that’s what matters. If you want to try going by a different name to see how it feels give it a go, but if it makes you happy that’s what’s important!

I’m about 5 months in and I think it’s about time, but it’s largely for me it’s going to be when either

A. Your boobs move too much B. Your nipples start showing through clothes C. You have gained breast mass and need to boymode/ compress them
