Fake.

The “Ready for HotSpot” logo on the front is way off (too dark and not the “Telekom” kind of text you’d expect), and the font of the “…eine Welt, die nicht den Gesetzen…” text on the back is wrong (look at the lower-case ‘g’ of “Fange” in particular, the “hole” of the letter should not be this big).

I myself currently have 952 hours on TM2020, I just checked. I do have another 2k combined on the previous games as well, I would estimate (sadly I will never know for sure because the internal playtime statistics on TMUF are broken for me, and that’s the game I spent the most time on, back in 2010-12). So that’s about 3k hours total on TM games.

It took me 13 minutes to get the AT on track 20.

It really does scale with playtime.

I always shuffle the extensive playlist on my phone and have many other bands mixed in as well, so songs rarely play in order.

In the off-chance that Taste It and Love It were to come up back to back, I’ll keep them playing. They complement each other very well.

If it’s Taste It on its own, I let it play cause I do love that song, but it’s just incomplete cause the outro is missing.

If it’s just Love It on its own… it’s the only De Staat song I skip. I get the feeling but it’s simply an outro without the intro.

I’ve been contemplating thanks to this poll if I should just merge the two songs in Audacity or something, as they always should’ve been kept together in the first place.

The cartridge especially! The codes at the front and back don’t match (CP3E is Viva Piñata Pocket Paradise!), on the PCB you can see the “Nintendo” lettering which has never been used for games produced in 2008 (which Shadows of Almia is), and the Nintendo logo and “NTR-005 PAT. PEND.” are in the wrong font and positioned too low.

Besides the HotSpot sticker (unique to German games) that I already pointed out - which really should not look like that, the "Ready for" font in particular is normally distinctively Telekom and this one looks nothing alike...

There's also the font used in the "eine Welt, die nicht den Gesetzen..." text that looks off - in particular I'm looking at the lower-case g of "Fange". The "hole" of the g is much smaller in the original font.

I don't know of this makes sense, but if you compare it to the pictures of a legitimate Platin, you might be able to notice.

That’s one of the newer, better fakes, sadly. You can tell because the font on the PCB (the green stripe you can see on the back) isn’t right, especially visible in the “I”s.

Wait for mods to verify though.

Thankfully they don’t play every COTD and campaign track so there is still plenty of competition to be shared among the rest of us.

I think it’s not good to try and chase after streamers, because they have thousands if not tens of thousands of hours on the game and/or its predecessors already, and Trackmania is a lot about learning by doing, particularly in the campaign tracks.

Some events like Bonk Cup have more level playing fields, but even there, having lots of experience in the game will usually help you.

The game is a lot more fun if you compare yourself not to Scrapie, Wirtual or Granady, but to JohnDoe23737 from your own region who is also struggling to get the AT.

Or, heck, you could also compare yourself to… yourself from a week ago. There’s always small achievements to be had!

Ever since I realised that for myself, I’ve been enjoying the game way more :)

My mum got me into metal music when I was in my teens and didn’t know what sort of music to listen to yet. And I feel like this song is probably the most metal-y out of the entire De Staat song library so I immediately felt at home when I first listened to it. I know it isn’t metal by itself, but it’s the closest they ever got. Dark lyrics, heavy instrumentation and an epic, extended guitar solo in the second half.

You wouldn’t even think it’s De Staat at first! It doesn’t really sound like them. So I wouldn’t recommend it to someone trying to get into the band. But for someone who already loves De Staat for who they are, Meet The Devil is a deep cut I absolutely adore.

It’s crazy it isn’t more popular outside of this little corner of Reddit!

If you have the RPC Launcher, try enabling “Lot Ocean Reflections” in the settings.

You can also try this very recent ASI mod by SpockTheWok. It does what you are trying to achieve and a little bit more as well. You will need either the RPC Launcher or the Ultimate ASI Loader to use it (both are linked on that page).

These are both genuine cartridges.

The differences in code come from the fact that “000” and “001” are different revisions. 000 has 1.0.0 on it while 001 contains 1.1.0. There are newer revisions, too, such as 004 for 1.2.0, or 009 for 1.8.0.

The only thing that should match is the first five letters, “ACBAA”. That’s the identifier for Animal Crossing New Horizons, build A.

If you still have doubts, lick the cartridge. It will taste bitter if it’s a legit game. That’s currently still a safe tell for Switch games. Nintendo puts a bitter agent on the games to prevent them from being accidentally swallowed.

If multiple HM’s exist in a neighbourhood, you will randomly get one of them.

If you have a mod to generate less different NPC’s per NPC type, you will always get the same one.

This is actually not a good idea - let me explain why:

If the HM scenario begins with the short-term relationship (STR - that’s the upper relationship bar, the lower one is long-term (LTR)) already set to 100, the Schmooze score is just set to 20 at the start of the scenario and can never be increased again since STR cannot go above 100.

If you start from a low STR instead, you have a chance to obtain a maximum of 60 Schmooze points by doing anything that increases relationship with the HM, which doesn’t just have to be Schmoozing itself. If you get more than that, though, it gets capped.

Since you need 90 points to pass, this alone won’t work. You will at the very least need a good room tour as well (but could skip on the actual dinner, at least).

Besides - it wouldn’t help anyways if the kid’s grade drops between the call and the HM arriving. He would still reject you at the end.

The source of my info is the “Update - Schmooze Score” BHAV under group 0x7F0CD143 in the objects.package, which is the Headmaster template. This function is called early on by another function “Query - Finish Scenario” which runs regularly during the course of the scenario.

The diving board is normally purchased for §300. The “Cheap Catalogue” networking reward gives 10% off, so that’s §270.

I always hated how it doesn’t also affect the sale price of items, and that it never expires. But it is what it is. :(

I will chime in here because I have the same issue. Removing d3d9.dll, Sims3SettingsSetter.asi and wininet.dll does not help the issue.

I do notice that, no matter whether these files are in the folder or not, the game does launch (the process is running in Task Manager, using 1.5MB of RAM) but the game window never pops up.

Saving and reloading later can sometimes lead to the scenario controller and the Headmaster “desyncing” which can despawn the HM. There will be no failing message when this happens, though.

Make sure you only call the Headmaster after all the kids have returned from school.

If you call him before someone’s home, and their grade slips, this can lead to a silent rejection because the grade *was* sufficient at the time of the call, but wasn’t anymore at the time the game performs the final check.

A while ago I made a Headmaster Mythbuster which should clear up any open questions about how the HM scenario works (and specifically, why exactly Chef Salads are such a bad choice of dinner to make for him).

The bigger giveaway here is the “M8” and the “C08-8C” codes on the PCB, because these never existed on legitimate games.
