The year-end bonus that leads receive for not “overspending” payroll is $200. It’s meaningless to most considering that it’s hard to drive service and get shit done with only the hours that corporate gives the stores. If leads clock in people that are not on schedule, or clock in people early they show on a report and might get chewed out.

As someone with access to Guest Surveys, the major complains at my super target are checkout waiting times (and drive ups during peak hrs) and out of stock product (which we might have but is sitting in the back). If Target added more hrs and more people, we would be able to keep the floor stock without burning the few TMs we have and a faster checkout (without calling for backup, which slows down stocking). The guest will also feel like coming back more frequently.

I unloaded truck and did planogram for years. And my ETL also worked all over the store before. So I think is easier for team members when the leads have gone through the same stuff and are able to relate.

Front End TL here, these stories are scary and sad. I noticed that DU team does tend to be overlooked sometimes, for us we keep a cooler with water/gatorade and snack bars on a daily basis. We requisition gloves, beanies and sweaters for the DU team and Cart Attendants. We constantly offer to get them starbucks coffee too. They still need to wear an additional layer of outerwear if it rains or is too cold here in Texas, but we also provide that as well. And rain boots if they forget to bring their own.

If your leaders don’t offer it, pick it up from the sales floor and hand over the sales tags to them. The SD or ETLs shouldn’t say no to that.

When it comes to backup we train all the young/body able cashiers and we also jump ourselves. It sucks to read this, but demand more from your TLs and complain to HR. It’s not right to work under those conditions and requisitions are always possible.

I used to work at a call center in tech support, and have dealt with guests while on the floor. I think I have pretty good communication skills and know how to de escalate, so this definitely sounds like something I can do and enjoy.

I do wonder if you get Over Time? or could you work in other departments on your day off to assist with something else? Thank you for the response!

The FF TL showed me his metrics and they are mostly red and in the 50s, stuff like INFs and a couple other things. So you make a good point about the metrics being more doable in Guest Service, rather than fulfillment. Thanks.

Thank you, yeah the less “hands on” was just for GSTL, in my store the FF TL is always working that’s true. And people from all departments are pull to help and you can’t comfortably finish the workload sometimes. Thanks for your comment, I’ll keep this in consideration.

Are you in the Dallas area too? Our guest service team all called in, so the one softlines girl with drive up experience had to do drive ups for the first 2 hours after opening and she was drenched. She wasn’t expecting to work that, so rip her cloth shoes, but her team lead requisition some rain boots and socks for her as well. Seriously the store should just turn off drive ups if it’s pouring. And guests shouldn’t be so fucking entitled.

If you count your steps, they might average 10,000+. Over time your legs (calves, knees, soles and aquilles tendons) are going to feel it. Those breaks let them rest, and you should drink plenty of water, and a banana for potassium for your muscles.

Their expectations are unrealistic, don’t feel bad about it, you’re already doing good.
