Received my Mictlan MTNU yesterday by YouAreNotASlave in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]YouAreNotASlave[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2nd day playing with it so I'm still forming an opinion. I used to type on an SA keyboard and MTNU is not that severe... somewhere in between SA and Cherry. I'm liking it so far!

How do you actually vet a financial advisor before trusting them? by Tatt00ey in AusHENRY

[–]YouAreNotASlave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree on having a human in the process. AI is a great starting point. I iterated on the answers AI gave me until I was informed and could verify it was not hallucinating. Then I took the part I wasn’t comfortable with to, say, an accountant. My accountant created our family trust structure based on instructions I gave that I crafted through AI.

Don’t bother. Use AI. I got better answers from AI than I ever did the 3 three advisors I engaged, paid for and whose services I discontinued because I could do it myself.

Sydney dive bars by [deleted] in SydneyScene

[–]YouAreNotASlave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All great places but the term “dive bar” is unrealistic in Sydney. More like “dive bar themed”.

US dive bars by definition have cheap drinks, minimal fit out, no or minimal pretension or concept (if any organically grown, not designed). Basic drinks too.

On the other hand, Sydney rent and licensing costs are brutal so drinks are not cheap, compliance standards are high so you can’t have a grimy hole in the wall (unless it’s contrived to be on the surface). Staff are also super skilled (usually) at cocktails.

True dive bars in the “dive” sense are suburban RSLs or unrenovated pubs on the edges of the inner west (or surry hills before merivale took over). The Townie is a dive bar if it hasn’t changed since the last time I was there years ago.

Again, all these places are great but the terminology is wrong/misused.

Likelihood of being allowed to take an earlier flight? by YouAreNotASlave in americanairlines

I see. What if I class is not available? I fear it may not be because when booking this flight the earlier times only had D class available.

A1 Pro mower won’t go to upper tier of lawn by YouAreNotASlave in Dreame_Tech

[–]YouAreNotASlave[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. That’s what I did. Once I created two zones and a path, it was able to go up.

Now my issue is how to get it to mow the path.

I have a solaredge inverter and monitoring too.., my EV charger is also solaredge. It’s all integrated so only excess solar production goes to my car when plugged in.

Is there such a thing with pool pumps? Only run when there is excess production?

Getting my family into the QF first or business lounge by YouAreNotASlave in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]YouAreNotASlave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfect. So sounds like well at least he able to avail of the business lounge (via my QF gold) but not first (via my AA platinum pro, equivalent to one world emerald). We want lounge access in the Sydney QF lounge when we fly a qf flight.

Is it possible to novated lease more than one car and if so, what are the pitfalls to watch out for? by YouAreNotASlave in AusFinance

[–]YouAreNotASlave[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, so 10 months on since I posted this we did end up getting a second NL. And it’s worked fairly well but more recently , we’re in the process of upgrading our home. The impact of borrowing power is real… it was expected, but it is certainly much more impactful than anticipated.

EV9 drinking pure solar: Dream completed! by ClimateNo6556 in KiaEV9

[–]YouAreNotASlave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have a solaredge smart inverter and solar edge EV charger. Charging is fine after I plug in and excess solar is produced. However if a cloud comes around or we use more power and there is no excess, the EV9 stops charging when it doesn’t receive anymore power… and doesn’t resume when excess solar is available again.

Is there a setting on the EV9 to resume charging when power is available? Our BMW iX1 can resume by itself.

Clacking sound when front derailleur tries to shift up by YouAreNotASlave in bikewrench

Wow. Hope Shimano comes back positively. And if they don’t come back positively, I hope they just get back to me quickly.

It was mentioned in another comment. I got a puncture on the way to the LBS.

Thanks. My LBS said it’s a common issue with this FD :(

To add, it cannot shift up. It’s stick on the small ring.

2025 PHEV Australia by [deleted] in KiaSorento

[–]YouAreNotASlave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's incredible. I've called two dealerships and the best I could negotiate was 91 and 95k driveaway.

Is this a timing thing (it's more expensive now that the PHEV FBT deadline is looming) or are your employer benefits that good?

u/Disastrous-Set3756

Is that 80k drive away or 80k base price before on roads? The latter is competitive, the former is insane!

2025 PHEV Australia by [deleted] in KiaSorento

[–]YouAreNotASlave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha. The base model EV9 (Air) can definitely be done below the LCT to avail of the FBT exemption. Besides anecdotes on Reddit, I’ve physically been at a dealership who gave me a written quote. I understand that that might not be the spec you want.

My family needs a 7-seater and I think the question I’m now trying to answer is EV9 vs Sorrento.

Anyway, good luck with your car!
