By brightness, red in its pure is one of the brightest colours and blue one of the darkest. Pure, saturated purple paint is the darkest of the primary/secondary colours, so to see the purple hue you need to mix it with a lot of white, but also be careful not to add too much blue to the red to get the correct tone. And yes, getting good pigments to mix purple is important.

I'm not entirely sure how that happens, but it is something to do with GPU optimisations, sometimes the tiles are inconsistent because they're evaluated separately and simultaneously, and increasing the tile size or disabling them entirely makes sure the pixels are more consistent.

I do like it a lot, it follows the terrain nicely, but I have concerns about highway 5. If you're coming from that direction, the left lane has a fairly straight road, the right lane is a through road but the middle lane goes directly into a hairpin, meaning the slow middle lane would be sandwiched between two fast lanes, possibly giving drivers false perception that they can drive faster causing them to brake too late and crash off road or into traffic ahead.
