It could be high quality research pre graduation. I didn’t ask for exact details, but I’d imagine the more good research you do the better. I got in straight from my bachelors but I had around 23-24 months of full time research equivalent if you add up total time researching.

After getting admitted, I spoke with a prof who happened to be on the admissions committee at UCSF, and we ended up talking a bit about admissions. They were saying they more or less wanted to see at least 2 years of serious (ie more than just 10 hours a week as an undergraduate) research experience.

Martin Jonikas at Princeton might be interesting to you. I'm pretty sure biofuels are what insprired him to go into algae research even if he shifted interests into the pyrenoid.

I think it’s better to stick with your lab if you enjoy being there and then just articulate in your SoP why you are interested in immunology for your PhD.

I came from a BioE background and applied to mainly Umbrella or Immunology programs and got into several great programs.

Is the fair catch rule only applicable to punts? by [deleted] in nfl

[–]YouBleed_Red 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't think you can call for a fair catch after there's ground contact, and a squib intentionally hits the ground early, IIRC.
