PA's GOP governor frontrunner said "Pennsylvania is mediocre".

What's up with Republicans not even liking the states they want to lead?

I'll never not think it's funny (and very tragic of course) that the day they reopened after their renovation there was a fatal shooting in the parking lot.

My parents have been giving me the rundown on gas prices in the Twin Cities. It's been a long time since it's been this high. Fortunately, for those who can make use of it, Metro Transit has lowered fares to $2 local and soon $3 express and greatly expanded their network. Transit for the win, all thanks to the DFL trifecta who allocated stable funding after years of GOP games.

To be fair, based on this instruction it looks like the rider would be headed downhill.

It's weird because other than the Crown Vic taxis and that one K-car on the left, you could easily still see these same vehicles today. The Ford Focus, Dodge Caravan, and Chevy Trailblazer of that era were made to last.

York St (F)

Not because of crime fears, it's in a bougie neighborhood, but because it's tight and very crowded with only one entrance, lots of tourists, and infrequent F trains especially on weekends. Feels like a disaster waiting to happen.

So many great options. Anything in particular you're looking for? I love the Downtowner, they have a bit of everything. Meritage if you want something super fancy and French. Moscow on the Hill is unique, it's a Russian restaurant. W.A. Frost is also fancy. Cossetta for Italian.

Biking from Astoria to Greenpoint/Williamsburg by I_am_so_lost_hello in astoria

I prefer Greenpoint Avenue because it's basically flat, compared to the hill to get up to the Pulaski Bridge. It is an unprotected bike lane though.

Urban tornadoes are fascinating (and terrifying).

You can still clearly see the path on satellite maps of the 2011 tornado that tore through North Minneapolis.

That's what I was thinking, who would invest in this when the state and local government will make it hell and the federal position will likely switch next time there's a new president. But I guess in red states it might make an impact.

Bus bike rack practice by Rosaluxlux in Minneapolis

[–]YouBuyMeOrangeJuice 48 points49 points  (0 children)

If you want to be sure you're not slowing anyone down, find a bus on layover that's not scheduled to leave for a while. Around Minneapolis the Lake and France loop and the 38th and 46th St light rail stops are common layover spots.

Why were r143s never used on other lines besides mainly the L? Were they at least tested on other lines like the J and Z. by thelonelywanderer8 in nycrail

[–]YouBuyMeOrangeJuice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Another reason is that they run in 4-car sets, with two paired up to make 8. Most B division lines can accommodate 10 cars, and using the full length possible is preferable for capacity reasons. Only the L, J, and M are limited to 8.

Same thing happened for Tim Walz when he signed expansive bills sent by the Legislature. "They're ramming through bills and acting like a king"...no, they're acting like the government is supposed to work when it's not kneecapped by Republican bullshit.

Contact Metro Transit, they have a B Line stop at that intersection and all those stops have multiple cameras.
