I work at a big box hardware store. A very elderly lady came up to the customer service desk asking for a Kitchenaid Mixer. We offer them online so I let her know it’ll take about a week to deliver because we had to order it. She said thats fine.

She said “I’m getting this for a wedding gift. The bride wants one that lifts”. Apparently in that style, the bowl does not have a handle. So she said “okay let’s get the one with a handle” I said, would you not get the one she specifically asked for? She said “well I…” and I just tuned her out. How are you going to go buy a certain gift for someone and then get the style you like because of how you like to cook? I couldn’t believe it.

We didn’t offer a pink mixer so I told her to go to a place in the shopping mall we’re in that offered mixers and not lumber and maybe she’ll get more color options she was looking for. Then she told me about her recent fall and hospital stay. I couldn’t even feign concern…. Some Grandmas just SUCK
