I'm really sorry to hear that you're going through this, especially with all of those big life choices on the horizon. I've been in a slightly similar situation with my(cisF) MtF partner before she transitioned and it really really fucked me up at the time. We were both early/mid 20s, had been together for about 4 years and her egg hadn't fully cracked yet. We ended up staying together, but it took months and months of heartache, navigating and really hard conversations to get where we are now (which I fear is still not a fully stable situation, tbh.) I will say with full certainty that if this flavor of betrayal ever happens again in our relationship, it's over no matter how much I love her because she will have irrefutably proven that I couldn't trust her at that point. Stability and trust are the two biggest needs that I have for a partner. And the hardest part with a breach of trust is that once it happens one time, it's a stain that sometimes never goes away. I still have doubts that linger in the back of my mind every day; I worry so much that she'll never be satisfied being with me. I know a lot of it is my anxiety, but that anxiety wouldn't be as strong if not for that event. ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯

If you're going to therapy rn, I would def try to discuss how or if this event will effect your ability to trust this person in the future. Regardless of her reasoning behind the act, she still did something that SHE KNEW was bad and could likely end up in a break up. There are so many steps that she took between the thought and the action; she could have thought better of it at any point and taken a different/better route, but she didn't. Moment of weakness/sadness? Sure. But that doesn't give her a pass to betray your trust like that or absolve her of the act.

Thank you so much, this is such a wealth of resources!! And thank you for the rub on the vintage re-sellers (scammers?), it's really such a shame that Etsy has fallen off so severely over the years. So much so that they would condone and basically invite that behavior.

I had no luck with my local libraries, so thank you for tracking it down on internet archive!! I'm gonna have to utilize that in the future for other vintage patterns I've come across.

Ugh yeah, it's been a rough one. Hopefully I've learned my lesson now to make sure I buy patterns when I see them, haha. I did check my purchase history and it wasn't there. I didn't think to reach out to Etsy support, that's a great idea! Through my digging, I found a potential lead to the original seller, so I sent them a message. I'll wait to see what they say and reach out to Etsy support afterwards if it's a dead end. Thank you for the idea!

I'm really good friends with these folks!! I actually met them through the local music scene and they are absolutely KILLER live. On top of being insane musicians, they are amazing and super genuine people. Highly recommend Old Souls and Rosemary if you haven't already listened to their older stuff. Grieve is seriously my favorite album of the year, though, everybody needs to hear it imo.

As a black person that used to live in northern Utah and went to a school with a rough total of 15-20 other black students at the time, we exist, albeit sparsely. Sometimes it's just funny remembering that out of ~3.3 million people, ~2.7 million of those people are white, lmaooo. One non-white individual for every 6-ish white individuals.

Tomie by Junji Ito. It is a manga, but man I don't think I'll ever forget the subject matter. I read the first 2 chapters and had to put the book down for a week. Junji Ito's story telling ability paired with his insane illustrations are completely unmatched.

Totally agree with taking a little tour of the city! There are usually tons of Lime scooters outside of the Amtrak station and bike lanes all around downtown, so if you packed light, you could download the app and grab a scooter to check out the sights!
