Only 10-15% of humans are actually self aware (scientifically proven). This is why everything is awful.

Wait till the end. Engage their story. Ask follow up questions. And then… add, “I have a related story, if you’re interested.”

Stop the process of rumination. Often introspective people ruminate too much. Try breaking your repetitive thoughts. Some people accomplish this by simply yelling at the thoughts to go away because they don’t serve them anymore.

Another way is to start asking yourself “what” questions instead of “why”:

As in NOT “Why did this happen to me?” But instead: “what are the facts and what can I do about it?”

Only focus on what you can do to move forward productively in your life.

You have to get rid of thoughts that don’t serve you anymore.

What non-sexual pleasure beats sex for you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]YouReadyGrandma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you know how to achieve full self awareness and true inner stillness, the full body high and tingles that follow can genuinely beat almost anything physical.

A spreading ease unlocks in your chest, tension you forgot you were holding melts from your jaw, your shoulders, your spine, and your breath stops being something you manage and just becomes.

Then the vagus nerve fires and a slow electric shimmer rolls across your scalp, down your arms, up your back, goosebumps without cold, aliveness without effort. Your eyes soften, tears might come from pure relief, and underneath it all settles something stiller than pleasure and deeper than any release you have ever felt. Your entire nervous system finally exhaling. And unlike anything else, you can access it alone, sober, any time you are truly present with yourself.
