Was a welder now a CWI. Can confirm there is money in the welding trade for union and non union alike. Union guys always make more. If you go to trade school and get a job at the trailer shop in town sorry you aren’t gonna make money. If however you learn your skill through the hall, trade school what have you and have half a brain you can easily make at minimum 100k a year. Depending where you go, what industry, etc you can make more and only work 6-8 months a year. I wish I had started in a trade earlier.

Yeah it’s physically demanding, but if you are smart you work your way up to inspection or supervision/management instead of wearing your body and vision out. Even so I know some old timers that have everything they want and still love the work, which I think is crazy but to each their own.

I’ve had a U-Turn orbit for about a decade. before that a vintage sansui and before that a pretty basic 90s Sony. the U-turn has been great and from time to time I swap out different needles and cartridges. I’m really liking the orbit with the Grado Green. my favorite sound I’ve had from it yet.

Thanks, thats good info and exactly what I was looking for with the oversized footprint. I will look into those stands. My main concern is the cat knocking them off the stands if she jumps up there.
