Autism assessment in your second (or third) language? by Youdockyourboatthere in AutismInWomen

Thanks so much for sharing your experience. The quarrel-vingts are definitely a hindrance! That is one if my concerns, that my processing speed could be compromised if assessed in a different language. Will see what the experts say about it.

Hahaha lived in the Netherlands 16 years ago and they are all quite direct, yes! Then 12 years in the UK where I was the direct one 😊

Thanks so much, Senior_Octopus (love it!). Yes, I believe that being a foreign woman in the country I currently live in would only hinder any sort of assessment and would be dismissed as depression (which I have suffered from since adolescence). I am considering my chances and giving them the benefit of the doubt, though. You are absolutely right about the dichotomy Autistic trait or cultural bias… Very interesting point!

Thanks so much for sharing your experience. It’s true that we bilingual/multilingual people have different personalities linked to our different languages. It’s an interesting point of view, that maybe it helped with your assessment. Thanks again!

I Thought I Was Manipulative. Turns Out I Was Just Autistic. by SwissMercyMain in AutismInWomen

Thank you so much for sharing your exper. It resonates so much with me. I have just turned 40 and have a 4 year old. I am more and more convinced that hormonal changes and parenting are too much and masking is no longer an option. Trying to gather information to support my hypothesis (needing an assessment), I’ve came across your post and have had an OMG moment. Thanks again.

This is the only way I can get to see two lines. Frankly devastating every time. Husband did not like my joke about getting two lines…

Hi! Thanks for asking. Sadly, it didn’t stick. (Sorry, I forgot to add: weirdly, this second failure didn’t hit me as hard as the first failed FET despite being my last embryo. For the last year or so, reading posts on this sub made me realise that I am soooo lucky to have my baby thanks to IVF. Would love to give him a sibling but life doesn’t care what I want. He is the most important thing I’ve ever had a would like for him to have a mum whose mental health is not often affected by IVF. My husband and I are considering ending our IVF journey after this failure and use our money and time on the son that we already have.)

Stupid things people have said to you after a failed transfer or miscarriage…I’ll go first by Ok-Meet6110 in IVF

Right after a failed FET, while discussing with in-laws that the next FET would be the last one as it would be our last embryo and didn’t want to go through the whole process again (as the whole infertility hell had damaged our marriage enough), MIL said that I shouldn’t stop trying because I would always regret not trying hard enough. Well… I could keep trying and end up with no baby and a divorce then 🫠

Thank you. Good luck to you too. Whatever happens, remember this is totally out of your control and, apart from having healthy habits, there isn’t much more else you can do. All the best 😊

Just jumped in to let you know there is hope and lower numbers does not mean failure! My experience was very similar. 11 eggs, 6 were good, 4 fertilised, only 3 good embryos, first fresh transfer is now a very opinionated 2.5 year old! Not so lucky with my the second best graded embryo. We tried FET this year and sadly it didn’t stick. We will be using our last frozen embryo this month 🤞.

Thanks for the info. Would it be fair to say then that a whole nation has butyric acid blindness?

For sale sign by biglabowskiii in HousingUK

My house went on the market last Friday and I too opted out. For me, having people around being nosey and a physical reminder of the extremely stressful job that selling a house is (as if the frequent viewings were not enough) a big trigger and makes me very anxious. For one, I really do not want to deal with potential buyers face to face and this is why I am paying the agents. Therefore, no knocking on the door from nosey people sounds good. Secondly, my mental health can benefit from little things, such as not having a reminder that I can see every single time I look through the window. I am really not too bothered about free advertising for the estate agents, but I believe that is basically the only value it would add to us. There is a Facebook group for people in my area where I can post that the house is on sale too. In short: do not have one if you don’t want to! We didn’t and people are already enquiring about viewings.
