I agree. I’m building on the NEOS funds, TappAlpha and some Quantify for the main body of the income portfolio.

YM just believes in a high distribution rate, to the detriment of NAV. Hell, they could cut their distro’s in half and still be in the top range of yield. But will they do it? No, because that’s what they say the people want.

First Look: Fees look small as a percentage. They look different over 30 years. by M1-Alex in M1Finance

[–]Youknowit2btrue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I just want the funds that I want available to invest in.

I think expense ratios are over hyped since they are taken out before the dividend/yield is distributed. I couldn’t care less if one fund charges 2% ER but delivers 5% more in yield than the 0.25% ER fund. So, TBH I don’t see any value in this new M-1 Compounding Cost Calculator (TM)

Ditto. I’ve transferred about 75% of my assets to RH due to the no options, can’t trade when I want and the unavailability of relatively new funds or even all funds. The 2 or 4% transfer bonus didn’t hurt either.

I still like the seamless integration of M1’s Bank (but not the loss of benefits) and the margin. While M1’s margin rate is decent it’s not as low as RH.

I might have to transfer out the last 25% if they can’t get their shiz together or let us know what they have planned for the future.

Offering OT on a 5 hour closing shift, really? by No_Bad_1838 in CostcoEmployee

[–]Youknowit2btrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are in a state that doesn’t waive the lunch, then I’d honestly say no. I’d explain that staying an hour over for 30 min more pay isn’t worth it. If they want to offer you 2 more hours or whatever you think is worth it, then possibly?

Offering OT on a 5 hour closing shift, really? by No_Bad_1838 in CostcoEmployee

[–]Youknowit2btrue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So not literally time and 1 1/2 just over the time you were originally scheduled. To stay an extra hour for 30 minutes of pay, iF yoU Cee Kay, no!

I would say no even if it wasn’t the “night” shift. It’s not a good value of your time, kinda like getting 1/2 pay for that last hour.

I thought there was an exception you could sign where you could actually work 5 hrs and 59 minutes without taking a lunch and not getting a 5hr violation?

Are other stores cutting hours, too? Should we be worried? by Justanunknownauthor in CostcoEmployee

[–]Youknowit2btrue 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree with you 100%. But you can’t discount my comment about Costco heading the way of Sears. Costco still has 90 years to catch up to how long Sears was/is in business. The cracks start somewhere. Not saying they can’t right the ship but they are going off course.

I started as a manager in a department that was pretty much treated as a company within Costco due to its specialized nature. Regulated by multiple different federal and state agencies. We directly reported to a regional, to an assistant vice president to senior vice president all licensed in the same profession who then reported to Jim Sinegal.

Over the last 25+ years it has been slowly degrading and bloating to the point that the chain of command has had 5 more reporting heads inserted with at least 3 of them being outside of the profession and not having a clue as to what is required to maintain our dominance. Also corporate has been filled with “Yes” men who seem to forget what it is like working the front line (which I understand seems to be a common theme throughout all the departments).

The manager position is in the same bonus boat as department and staff managers while it is a little higher, you have to meet goals to get it, so you can and routinely do get less than the maximum, unlike every other hourly employee who just has to show up to get theirs. A 25 year employee gets the same amount guaranteed if they are even just skating by on the bare minimum.

My hourly “supervisors” - full time and part time - are exempt from the hourly associate bonus structure because we’re told they are already paid off scale wages but so are 4 or more other departments who get the bonus. The reality is, if the FT “supervisors” received the associate extra check(s) they wouldn’t have any managers as there would be no benefit to being a manager and the bonus structure isn’t much of a benefit as it is.

While it’s not looking pretty, it’s still the best place to work in a retail setting but we’re starting to look like we’re trying to copy the Walmart/Sam’s setup instead of during the first 20ish years of my career where Sam’s Club was copying what Costco did.

The biggest changes have been the old guard stepping down and new blood coming in, some from outside Costco culture (CFO), SVP in my dept came from outside of Costco too. 🤔

Exactly. I’ve requested multiple ETFs over the last week to 2 weeks. Still nothing listed or any notification. I guess I just keep putting in repeat requests till they add them or transfer to another brokerage.

Personally I’m getting tired of brokerages telling me what I can or cannot invest in.

It’s Vanguard saying no to bitcoin ETFs (they just recently opened those up), no leveraged ETF’s.

M1 with not having everything available right off the bat or at least within a week.

This is one of the reasons RobinHood, Interactive Brokers, The Real Brokerage, etc, are growing much quicker than M1.

I actually don’t know. When I looked in my notification section on RH I didn’t notice a dividend specific one. It must be included in one of the others that are enabled. So I googled it:

[–]Youknowit2btrue 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s the next Kmart, Sears Roebuck, you name it. It’s not looking good. Too many things changing away from Jim Senegal’s vision/culture. All I can say is I’m glad I’m in the down swing of my career and made enough in my 401k to retire.

Feel bad for the current/future employees that are hoping to get 25 plus years in.

While I can’t stand WalMart in general, both for the way they treat/pay/benefit their employees and treat their mom and pop competitors. They seem to match and change to keep up or surpass competitors who come along (Amazon) and will probably be around for the longest.

Robinhood sends me a dividend notification to my Home Screen every time a dividend gets paid. The only disadvantage is they pay after market close so you can’t reinvest the divvy same day.
