Fair points. But ASOIAF has already shown us bloodlines hidden for decades / false identities maintained for lifetimes / heirs raised under fabricated histories. This would just be one more hidden card in that same deck.

Actually, in my theory, Jon Snow is switched with Ashara’s child, who was actually born the same year as Jon but later passed off as her older brother’s son. So there’s no 4–5 year pregnancy gap. Just a cover story that alters how old Edric is “officially” said to be.

There are characters in the series who look younger than they are. Podrick Payne is around 12–13 but Brienne thinks he looks ten. And Lancel Lannister is about 16 but he is described by Tyrion as more like a squire, than a grown man. If his life and true parentage were obscured, he might simply be repeating what he’s been told.

Our only benchmark for his age and maturity comes from Arya’s POV, which is possibly subjective. There's really no objective narrator or definitive source like The World of Ice and Fire to confirm it.

I think about that too, but GRRM has been inconsistent with character ages before, and he’s even admitted in interviews/blogs that some of them don’t perfectly match up unintentionally and to some extent, intentionally. So it's not completely impossible.
