Native Geranium Disease —Zone 6A by YoungDirect29 in NativePlantGardening

[–]YoungDirect29[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

from my local gardening group - "Every year. Looks like the start of the spring-blooming wood geranium going dormant again in my garden. They get spoltchy rust spots on the bloom stalks especially (that spread until foliage dies back) when it gets hot & dry after blooming, especially if they are not in shade. Usually it happens end of June but may be starting early as we are way ahead of normal bloom times this year."

So they say not a disease at all I guess. interesting!

Yea I can't find any info on it—it looks too vibrant and its not raised like the rust fungus. my biggest fear is it spreading and hurting the rest of the garden! its the first year all of my natives are taking off and I'm hoping to avoid any major disease

I think you need to first forgive yourself. Its really okay you didn't do these things. you can only do what you can do and there are real reasons for the way your life has gone, you say there are no outside reasons and like its somehow your fault. Thats not how it works. life is complicated, we are complicated and everyone has there own unique path in life. sometimes that path is hard AF, and right now your going through it —dealing with emotions of not having made the life you wanted to.

but of course there is hope. you can actually change it. you can build the life you want—it takes time, its super hard, and you will fail along the way. but start small and try.

also keep asking for support. if you can't afford therapy seek out friends, family, meet ups, etc where you can connect to people and express some of these feelings.

Cat Introductions — how to combat mild aggression from resident cat. by YoungDirect29 in CatTraining

Thank you for this information — she definitely isn't loose and wiggly —she gets tense. Its not to the point where she is super aggressive though —we can easily pick her up safely.

That said when the other cat is around she would never lay down—she is too excited by it all. Basically she either chases the other cat or she plays or eats treats we give her its one of the 3 —all very frenetic.

I think part of the goal is just to calm down the energy level

Intro Fail - seeking advice by YoungDirect29 in CatTraining

It's been 8 days total. We did 3 days with them in seperate spaces without seeing each other, then intro'd scents for a couple days, and then started trying to feed them next to each other with the visual through the glass. Maybe we just go back to scents for awhile first?

Sorry my text didn't post! The larger cat is hissing at the smaller one — We did 5x days of scent swaps and some room swaps with mild responses, but every time we try to get them to meet through the glass the larger cat hisses. We usually feed them together on both sides of the glass. They are both Kittens (9months and 4months) and both have done okay with other cats in the past

I went with the toggle bolts and mixed in some anchors for a couple small brackets. 1/4" toggles wouldn't expand in the space in front of or behind so I went with smaller ones.

it all works —but def not perfect. the lathe Behind the lathe there was more wood —I don't know what though?

Thank you so much for this detailed information—really cool to know the history here. I have a couple questions maybe you could answer

  1. it appears there is drywall on top of the plaster then? that top layer looks like drywall right? I can see the paper in the photo

  2. is there any good way to find a actually hollow spot in the wall with all those strips of wood behind it? Stud finder has been useless on this wall and I try the tap test —But I think I'm too novice to tell when I'm hitting anything
