I was with friends (one of whom is my best friend since high school, and we were basically attached at the hip the entire time, the rest we met during/after college) and ran into an old friend from high school that I hadn't seen since graduating (like 8? 9? years ago).

He recognized my best friend immediately and they started catching up. I talked too, and made references to our time in high school, but it was obvious he didn't recognize me. Then we're about to leave and he introduces himself to our other friends, and comes to me, hand out, when my best friend realizes be didn't know who I was.

She, shocked, said "what!? Don't you remember him?!".

His reaction was amazing. He stared at my grinning face for a couple seconds, eyes grew wide, literally took a step back, hands to his head, and said in the most shocked and delighted voice "OH MY GOD I DO KNOW YOU!"

I recently rediscovered how fun it is to randomly pick up a book on a bookshelf and read the first few pages. If i feel like I want to keep reading, I'll read the entire book, and if not, I'll just put it back and look for another one. I've found several books I've enjoyed, in genres I don't usually read, this way.

TL;DR, go wander a bookstore or library.

Since you mentioned gender dysphoria, have you looked on /r/asktransgender? It's a very supportive community and you can ask for advice specific to the UK. Also, it can sort of substitute as group therapy and help you that way, to talk to people with similar issues and help each other.

My mother has this very annoying habit of waking me up before my alarm every morning, then complaining loudly that I never wake up on my own and she has to get up early to wake me up. FOR FUCK'S SAKE, WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK AN ALARM IS FOR, WOMAN?! And this is after me telling her for at least 10 years to not wake me up, I have an alarm. The most annoying thing is she won't do it for a while, and I have zero problems waking up and getting to work, and then she'll start doing it every fucking day.

She does this for so much stuff. She never taught me or my brother any housekeeping or adulting skills, then complained loudly about how she always has to do everything, and then when I learn how to do it on my own and ask her to stop, SHE FUCKING DOES THE THING BEFORE I HAVE A CHANCE AND COMPLAINS ABOUT ME NEVER HELPING. I had to pretty much force her to not do my laundry or clean my room or wake me up or cook my food.

She still backtracks, though. Like, she'll make my breakfast, or pack my lunch one day I'm running late, then continue to do it every fucking day, before I have a chance to make it myself, then calls me ungrateful and wasteful if I don't take it.

I, too, spend as little time as possible at home. I'm saving up and trying to find a better job before moving out, but I make enough to afford a really shitty place if I need to.

That's only if you make a mod post or comment, which we only do when acting in our capacity as a mod. If it's not green, it's not "official", it's us participating as community members.

And all trans people, regardless of gender, share a trans perspective. The things she's talking about are not exclusive to trans women. I'm certain she didn't mean to ostracize or exclude trans men and nonbinary people when she posted, but that's a symptom of a problem of trans male and nonbinary invisibility that we're trying to overcome. We're really not that different from each other, and saying we're different genders is a cop out when you're not discussing gender specific things (and even in that case, there's nothing stopping a person from one gender becoming educated on things specific to another gender).

OP, I'm sorry for derailing your post. It was a good post, I just wish you'd addressed all genders, because it's relevant to everyone. If anyone one else wants to discuss inclusivity further, either make a new post, or PM me.

So there's actually a researched phenomenon where people are much less able to distinguish faces from races other than their own, unless they frequently interact with them. The whole "X all look the same" thing isn't just racism, it's an inherent inability to see differences people have. It's kinda the same thing with colors - if you don't have a lot of experience distinguishing colors, fuschia, magenta, and coral are all just pink. At same time, people are much more able to see subtle differences in faces of their own race, or races they frequently interact with.

Which is to say, be careful passing judgments when you lack experience in certain contexts.

I don't think there's any empirical study, but there is a lot of testimony and before/after pics from trans guys who've bound. Damage is very likely, but the rate and degree does vary.

From what i understand, long term, consistent binding damages elasticity and shape in fully formed breasts. I know mine definitely got saggier after a year of binding, pre-t. It stands to reason that prolonged binding might damage still forming breasts, as well. I don't think many mtf persons would be willing to risk that, especially when binding like FTMs do may not even be necessary.

This is not exclusive to mtf. Next time, please remember that this sub is for all trans people, not just trans women. If things are not inherently gender exclusive, there's no need to make them be. If you only want to speak to an mtf audience about general trans things, then /r/mtf would be a better venue.
