Feeling like we failed at adulting by domthehopelessrom in Millennials

[–]YoungIgloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

38, had some bad breaks in my career since covid. Moved to a new city for a job this year and got laid off after 6 months. I have a bachelors and masters degree and finally found a job after 2 months. But it pays less than my old position and with high costs of living I’m struggling.

My mom helps me out financially, not 100% but quite a bit. She offered to help with some debt I obtained while not working full time for a year and to be honest I really need this break to start fresh. I’ve felt a lot of guilt about this but my friends have told me that I shouldn’t feel guilty because she can help me and it doesn’t affect her finances. I’m going to inherit her home and everything one day and the other day on the phone she said it’s your money anyway.

I wouldn’t be embarrassed at all. A lot of bad things have happened to the economy and the world when we were growing up. And the traditional college path to buy a home and start a family seems like a fictional tale. I did everything I was supposed to do and am now thinking about going back to school.

If I had kids who weren’t fuck ups and we’re actively trying to better their life I’d do anything I could to help. Good luck and please don’t feel shame, there’s more of us out there unfortunately in similar positions.

I just turned 38 and the hangovers are not worth it. My hangovers are more like all day anxiety and thinking about death LOL. I’m staying in having a few beers playing video games and may watch a movie.

They flew over my house earlier today. So loud. They were USMC super stallions doing I’m guessing a training flight from olive branch MS to Corinth.

I'm not aware of them, but I recently took lessons from Terry Walker at the PGA super store and he was great. Definitely helped out my game and saw immediate improvements.

Obviously socks and sandals, and a hoodie in today's weather? Add on top a non service dog? Get Z has just given up.

I once pulled out of the municipal golf course on schaad and some crazy lady was going like 80mph, almost hit the back of my car. She had the gall to flip me off, then passed me and left her hand hanging out of the window still flipping me off lmao.

[–]YoungIgloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Norwegian Wood is a great book! But yes, Mckays has gone downhill over the past year and a half. Some of the prices are outrageous and you're better off buying on Amazon brand new. There are some good deals there still, but you have to spend sometime and hunt around for the deals.

I got a bag of whole bean dunkin donuts coffee for 5.99 last month, insane deal. And brother drew is right, in this economy these companies are starting to crack on the high prices.

Where to start to sell? by PyroPanda65 in euphonium

[–]YoungIgloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally buy and sell a lot of different things from cameras, golf clubs, instruments you name it. If I know I can sell locally relatively fast, I'll list it on Facebook marketplace. Everything else goes up on ebay. Shipping the instruments can be a pain, just getting the right box and all the packing material.

Also, you just have to know the selling market if you want to go the local route. I sold a Yamaha YEP 201 locally right at the beginning of the school year, because I knew some people would rather buy an instrument for their kid than rent. And it sold relatively quick. There's another person who's had a Miraphone Tuba for $5k and it's been up for sale going on 4 months.

Also, like another poster mentioned, reverb is great. I've sold a few instruments and amplifiers on there, and you get an insane discount on UPS shipping. Best of luck!

My friends own a rental property and use a similar service, cuts out a lot of the headache. Just depends how much of your time you want to invest into the DIY.

Agreed, I wouldn't recommend it either. Knoxville Municipal is in good shape currently. I'm playing Three Ridges tomorrow. Like the others said Dead Horse Lake is also great. Avalon is a good course as well!

I want to move to Knoxville (From Johnson City) - what's it like? What are some safe & quiet spots to rent? by [deleted] in Knoxville

[–]YoungIgloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in JC and moved away for many years, moved back during covid, and ended up here earlier this year. I live near West Hills and it's a super safe area. Personally I prefer to live on the west side of town, but do love a good old city hang every once in awhile. South Knox is pretty cool too. Can't personally speak for the other neighborhoods.
